The first month of 2012 finds Adam’s new single “Better Than I Know Myself” already making its appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, as we await the “official” radio add dates of January 23 (HAC) and January 30 (CHR). Hoping for much promo and excitement in the next few months as things build toward the release of Adam’s second album “Trespassing” on March 20. We should have a new tour to look forward to later this year as well! Enjoy the chat!

I’m not trying to start a fanwar or whatever here, but I wonder if these kinds of comments would be placed on a card intended for Kris Allen or David Cook (I use their names because I was just reminded of them by the fake comments attributed to them). I think it’s just that so many people are intimidated by Adam’s abilities, beauty, talent, and popularity. Not saying Kris and David are not some of these things, but Adam has the total package.

  2. luval says:

I think my father had a big frumpy sweater like that and he certainly wasn’t or didn’t look gay. Beaver Cleaver’s dad might have had one like this. What is “looking gay” anyway? Stupid.

In regards to the card…I signed it but I doubt if Adam ever sees these kind of things. If he does, he might be flattered getting a group card but I doubt if he has the time to peruse the comments.

eta: I’ve decided I’m not going to call it frumpy anymore. It is fashion forward and I love it!!!!!

  3. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Miss Chaos, I just went “over there”, lol, and there’s many, many comments in support of Adam. I didn’t go back far enough to read the nasty ones, because I was so happy to see the newer ones in support, especially this one:

…for the record, he has said that he sometimes buys women’s jeans because they fit better, so guess what? he clearly doesn’t give a fuck. Good for him! This world would be a way better place, and less little boys would kill themselves because they are made fun of because they like to wear “girl cardigans”!

    Well said!

  4. luval says:

sheesh…now we have to wait until next Friday for the video?

  5. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

    What is “looking gay” anyway?

    Not plaid? Wink

  6. dcglam says:

They do seem to get worse as the pages go on.

Some of the worst ones begin at around page 65, but there are plenty before that. I think it is becoming a game now. The haters are trying to outdo each other. So sick!
Personally, I think a card like this should only come from a registered fan group site such as ALF.

  7. Ceddies says:

luval, I didn’t go past 63. It was all I could stand. Hate to think they got worse.

  8. Miss Chaos says:

Well everyone is jumping on the people saying Adam is wearing a gay sweater, MJ is now in a tizzy, lol, I made a comment I couldnt stand it, it was non specific, but I liked all the comments sticking up for him, haha, I knew you couldnt keep the Glamberts down lol.

  9. ultimathule says:

Having fun over at the cardigan video brouhaha. Only about two diehards pushing the “girly” crap – pretty much being inundated by the wtf crowd.

  10. loveroftalent says:

@Miss Chaos…I was reading over at MJs too, and it made me very sad to see those two Nele and Deswhatever comments…You know gets me though is that you always hear how Kris fan are so nice and that Adam fans are so mean to James…Well thats a bunch of crap that has really been buggin me…Adam fans always get put down…That desmonna or whatever at MJs actually posted how she can’t stand Adam…So much hate that it makes me wonder too what it is about Adam that brings about that kind of comment…Her comments are always nasty about Adam. I havent’t read the card…It just makes me so sad what Adam has to face…Someone so amazingly talented is getting overlooked due to him being gay. All this today after that stupid comment from the dj last night.

I still think Adam will come ahead. People who hate are the ones with the major problems…

Adam looks amazing in the video and can’t wait for the debut of it….

  11. Miss Chaos says:

Agree ult, but MJ should not allow those smartass gay comments, JMO of course, it does start fanwars and I think she digs that.

  12. mieps says:

Can I ask about the comment of the dj last night? I guess I missed it.

  13. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

All this today after that stupid comment from the dj last night.

    What was said?

  14. loveroftalent says:

@meips…A 10 year old girl phoned the radio station to request BTIKM and the dj said to her “Did you know Adam was born a girl”. Just another added to all the rude comments that I have over the years about Adam…So many ignorant people in the world…

For haters to take over a birthday card to Adam is an all time low. They probably think it’s funny.. And you know..I bet most of them are adults doing the mean comments…Fans of other idols for sure…

I and I know all of you here would never think to do something like that on a card for another idol…I would simply ignore it or wish them a happy birthday and that would that.

  15. mieps says:

That’s disgusting. How can people live with themselves, in particular people who are heard by many others. They should be held responsible for the things they say. Poor girl.

As for the comments on the card, and at MJ’s for that matter, I don’t get it. I tried to think of someone I don’t like, and then I tried to picture what kind of comments I could write. Even in my own mind, with no one looking in, all I could think of was ‘I don’t like this person’. I can’t even conjure up disgusting comments, let alone write them down.

Comments like that though do break my heart. They literally can ruin my day and leave me depressed. I can only imagine how anyone would feel if they were directed to them. And that includes everyone who thinks they might as well have been directed at them.

Sorry, generally I’m not so down. On the bright side, if I compare the comments to what was going on while Adam was still on idol, and shortly after, things have improved tremendously. I just about lost faith in human nature in that era. I was new to message boards and/or blogs and often could not believe what I was reading. Poor innocent me!

    OK, I’ll stop now Wink

  16. ultimathule says:

MJ just threatened to close the thread if any more gay discussions.

That’s fine – think Des and her group have beaten a retreat for a bit. They were beginning to look ridiculous. Well, actually that’s not hard to do – lol.

  17. loveroftalent says:

@mieps…your post could have been written by me….I would also have to think of something mean to say too…

I never read blogs or message boards, before Adam and I was sickened sometimes by the comments…It was a real eye opener for me…I would talk to my husband about it and he would just say to me that’s how people are when they can hide behind their key boards…But I always thought, but still how can people be so mean…I guess I was a bit naive to all this and how bad homophobia really is…I can say honestly I had no idea. I guess I lived in a bubble, but I was always brought up to be accepting to everyone.

  18. missdfyed says:

I signed the birthday card without reading any of the comments first, what a shame people have to ruin such a nice idea. I would hope they could be removed, but I did not register first and then could not go back in to delete/edit. I tried to change the picture , I clicked on the wrong one, so now there is a flamingo by my greeting?? such a dingbat!

  19. luval says:

missdfyed…I tried to remove my name off the card and you had to register first. I refuse to register for ANYTHING! Store cards, point cards…birthday cards. Once they have your name it’s never ending junk. (I guess I could make up the info, though).

  20. mieps says:

loveroftalent, it was a rude wake-up call, wasn’t it! Your husband was right, of course. I don’t think the people who write these things on message boards would be equally insulting if they had to say it out loud.
I’m sad to say I wasn’t necessarily raised to be accepting, I mean, my mother didn’t go out of her way to discriminate, but she clearly had a problem with people that were ‘different’. I had a friend whose parents were from Malaysia, she was born in the Netherlands though, and I had to lie to my mother everytime I went to visit that friend.
Luckily, somehow, none of that rubbed off on me!

  21. Miss Chaos says:

Its a shame that 2 stupid people can ruin a thread on that site where a lot of decient people like to discuss Adams upcoming video. MJ threatening to close the site is just stupid, why doesnt she delete or ban the people having the unnesessary discussion about Adam and the sweater. I am wondering is she really knows how to control people on that Blog, or she is just playing favorites. I dont go anywhere else to read except for Home Planet, boy you can say anything there but it is all funny as hell.

  22. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Just watched the Behinds the Scenes video again – isn’t he just precious when he’s talking and giggling? And is he holding a bowl of popcorn in one of those scenes? Can’t wait for this!

Re the e-card: I read some of those comments. dcglam, I think you’re absolutely right – they were just trying to out-do each other! But I have to say, the one from Matt’s Mole was kinda funny!

  23. rs says:

I looked through the whole birthday card and was sickened by what I saw there.I have a feeling that it might have even been just one mean, nasty jerk posting all of those comments since they seemed to come in “clumps”, and even though I couldn’t bring myself to really read that filth, from scanning what I saw, they had a similar theme running through them. There is no way that the card can be sent now, of course, unless there is a way of getting rid of the nasty stuff, and it is such a shame that the real, heartfelt birthday wishes will be tossed, too. I agree that people let out their worst sides when they are hiding behind the anonymity of the internet, but I just can’t see how it makes them feel good doing it. It is so foreign to me. The worst I ever do is curse out other drivers from behind the closed windows of my car. lol

And for what it is worth, as much as I loved sparkly, glammed up Adam, and it inspired me to wear more sparkles myself, I adore his look now. “No more hiding…..” This might be the hardest and scariest public look for him of them all. He is showing the…..Underneath

  24. mieps says:

No more hiding…..” This might be the hardest and scariest public look for him of them all. He is showing the…..Underneath

    Nicely put rs.

I must say I had the same feeling when reading the card, about it being one or at least very few people doing it.

  25. cwm says:

I agree that it’s just one or two people who ruined that card. Don’t ya know they think of themselves as just so damned clever? Ugh.

Here is another card that appears to still be in good shape. It has a lot more signatures, and they’re all sweet and positive as far as I can tell:

    http://www.groupcard.com/c/nHRGHsVbiIC

  26. cwm says:

Regarding Desmodonna and Nele at MJs – don’t let them get to you. Who cares about their opinions? There are 50x more positive statements on that thread at MJs than those 2 negative people. Focus on the positive.

Some people are never going to get over Adam’s androgyny and OTT style, or the fact that he’s gay, or the fact that he’s having success that they resent.

The thing that bugged me was that calling the sweater “girly” was used as an insult. I don’t find the sweater feminine at all, but that’s beside the point. For the life of me, I can’t figure out what is so scary about the feminine that it is an insult for men to be associated with it. It’s so misogynistic.

I love that Adam embraces both his masculinity AND his femininity so fearlessly. And that duality of the masculine and the feminine in Adam scares the sh*t out of some people and freaks them out. I think that’s why some people can get so negative about him. He stirs up feelings that they just don’t know what to do with.

  27. ultimathule says:

DES is a hard-core James fan and her posts about his appearances are practically delusional. She’s into some sort of competition with Adam. Almost feel sorry for her.

  28. cwm says:

Ok, back to the video preview. When I watched it, the first thing I thought of was this line from Finding Nemo, by Dori:

I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine and he shall be my Squishy.

    Razz

Wow, the latest UK review is amazing – confident and nearly flawless! I have a feeling we’re in for an embarrassment of riches.

More love from a poster (named “tap”) at mj’s! I’m ready for an embarrassment of riches – bring it on! In Love

  32. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

This is crazy (good crazy) from twitter:

    http://www.bestweekever.tv/2012-01-27/the-ultimate-30th-birthday-adam-lambert-gif-wall/

luval, that was GIF HEAVEN!!! Michelle Collins is awesome – as much as I loved Lindsey’s interview the other day, the one with Michelle Collins from a year or so ago is right at the top of my list too!

  33. dcglam says:

But I have to say, the one from Matt’s Mole was kinda funny!

Please share, Texas. LOL, I so hate having to go back into that card, but I’m ready for a good laugh!

  34. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

dc, have to leave for our son’s baseball tryout – I’ll find it and post when I get back! Kiss

  35. dcglam says:

Good luck to your son, Texas!
    Check mail, too.

As you know, I am exactly on the same page with you about this.
And how insecure do you have to be to not dare to wear a cardigan for fear it would bring down your masculinity index.

Methinks the twist is ” My fans, groupies, lookers-on, that’s who knows me better than I know myself.” I think he’s actually said it in interviews!!

After watching and listening to the video, I have to agree with you, mils. I can see this song being directed toward all of his fans. Adam always said that WWFM had a double meaning in that regard, so this would make sense as well. His family could be included with this “fan” group.

BTW, I’ve been reading all kinds of speculation about the twist — everything from it’s all about the plant to there will be a woman at the end!! LOL Wink

  38. loveroftalent says:

@turquoisewatersLove your most recent comment about ladies clutching their plaid shirts at the site of Adam…So funny….

    oh…You almost yourself banned…

  39. cwm says:

I didn’t see this posted here– a series of seven short interview vids from VH1. They keep playing, after one stops, just wait for the next one to start. They mislabeled one of them a discussion of writing BTIKM rather than OOL, but otherwise they’re great.

  40. HK fan says:

H&M mens department, and cotton on (2 of the best places to get young mens clothes here) were full of cardigans in the winter stuff. My 17 1/2 year old asked for some cardigans for christmas….so pretty sure Adam is definitely on the ball with the cardi he is wearing in the video.

  41. Kradamour says:

OMG I love Michelle Collins and Adam together and I cannot wait for them to do another interview for this album…that martini interview was def one of the top three ever, watching Adam dissolve was…searching for the right adverb here…giving up. It just “was”!

But I hope someone figures out that at the bottom it says “You might also like:” and then there is a picture of Gary Coleman with the caption “Gary Coleman dies at 42”. I do understand how it was meant, but the result is just wrong. Frown

  42. glambotgram says:

good grief turquoiswqaters what did you say over there? lol

  43. Kradamour says:

Cardigans: my college age son is all over them. And yes, his also mostly came from H&M (and Express). Either GQ or Details did a big article on cardigans last fall, maybe both of them did (my household is awash in men’s fashion magazines and ads…).

  44. Oksana2000 says:

Just came back from reading various threads on MJs. I was thisclose from making totally inappriopriate comment in response to Nele621 remark, but with an inhuman strenght I controlled myself…. Smile
Just replace the word “zipper” with…

Nele is Kris stan and is as delusional as some Adam fans.
I guess that’s the nature of the fandom…

  45. turquoisewaters says:

glambotgram: I didn’t think it was all that bad — something about certain groups clutching their plaid shirts when they see Adam the way old ladies used to clutch their pearls when they saw a rock star. –Didn’t go over too well I guess, so I have to keep a low profile for a while. And I honestly did not think about any other idols – I rarely do!
I need to learn from Oksana and her zipper comment.

  46. Oksana2000 says:

turquoise, as was wondering what got you moderated. Now I know. No biggie… Smile

  47. Oksana2000 says:

turquoise, your comment about plaid shirt was clearly making stab at Kris and his fans. It’s a no no at MJs.
It’s refreshing that now we make 100 comments about cardigan instead of hair.. Smile

  48. glambotgram says:

Like everyone has said you never know what will incite the wrath over there. Question

  49. cwm says:

haha you guys are cracking me up.

ETA: Have we seen this picture before?
