And one thing that I don’t really think was sufficiently pointed out is that ADAM DOES NOT SPEAK FINNISH and was surrounded by people speaking incomprehensible things TO HIS BOYFRIEND IN A GAY BAR WHERE SAULI IS WELL KNOWN AND APPARENTLY WELL-LOVED. Damn, peeps, that would bring out anyone’s paranoid tendencies. Add some likker and some jetlag and it is a miracle that things didn’t turn out even worse than they did.

I think, krad that the situation just brought into the open problem/problems that had been under the surface (most of the time) (but sometimes out in the open – as with the guy who went after Sauli). Liquor, jetlag, strange environment just added fuel to the fire of some underlying discomfort. What that discomfort was – can think of a number of things – but all suppositions. Probably will always remain that way. Unlikely they’ll ever speak to it – except perhaps obliquely as Sauli did in his blog. Relieved that it all seems to have turned out well.

I’m glad that Adam and Sauli spent this NYE alone together, since the next months will be non-stop for Adam.
It appeared to be a very romantic evening, and they seem happy.
ITA, Kradamour. Also, not the same to be in the US with Sauli, where he is the newbie, as to be with him in his native country where you are the stranger. I met my 1st husband from Central America in D.C. at Georgetown. After 9 months, we flew to his country for the summer and to get married. He was almost a different person there, amidst his own customs and people.
Adam and Sauli have a lot of things to work out – especially with the craziness of promo travel and possible tour coming up, along with Sauli adjusting to permanent life in the US. They both seem very intelligent, worldly, and seem to have common sense, plus good family and friend backing. I wish them the best and really am optimistic they can work it all out.

Kradamour, your post reminds me of a comment I read somewhere not too long ago. It stated that it was Sauli’s responsibility to be the good host for Adam when they were out and about in Helsinki. Adam was essentially his guest and should have been treated well. I’m certainly not blaming this whole thing on Sauli, but I do agree that there was some additional responsibility here on his part. I would feel the same way about Adam if it happened here in LA.

As a language teacher, I am really conscious of this and I was surprised that more was not made of Adam’s being immersed in a strange language with so much at stake for him. riskylady, thank you for your example of the cultural misunderstandings/home turf advantage, as well.

Finally got around to putting BTIKM, and the Queen medley onto a disc for my car. BTIKM sounds soooo good up loud. I liked the song on first listen but now I really love it. Found myself humming it all around the shops.
Love the photo of Adam and Sauli on NYE’s (also can only see 1 wine glass each, and 1 other glass mils)), what a great way to spend New Year with the one you love, watching the sunset, then a romantic dinner for two.
Now holidays are over Adam…..when are you shooting the video, and when’s the first live appearance of BTIKM????????????

EW reviewer didn’t do much better. EW also trashed McCreery’s album. The same album that will go platinum pretty soon.

I also got a kick out of Joan Austen’s comments under the RS article. Guess she got annoyed by forgetting to rate the song before she posted, so she then left an “impressive” number of 5-star ratings, lol.
I also have one last comments to make re Finn-Gate (after reading your post on the subject, Kradamour, which ITA with); for all the reasons you mentioned, kradamour, coupled with my feeling that Sauli was possibly “enjoying” the attention from his Big Brother friend, some things obviously went down that Adam couldn’t deal with/communicate his way through. I mean, for heaven’s sake there were reports of Adam crying! If it happened in anyway close to the way I imagine it (which could be TOTALLY wrong
), it really breaks my heart for Adam. Add to that the tremendous amount of stress he’s under and “breaking points” are going to be different than in more normal circumstances. JMO, and again very appreciative to have a place to share my thoughts.
On another note … Sauli is just getting hotter and hotter! They are just the cutest couple and I loved the NYE details they shared with us.

I hope that Adam has peeps in his RL who are able to as thoughtfully and sympathetically analyze his life and reactions to things as we do.
I am only half kidding, actually. As his career gets more successful and crazier it will be harder for him to keep those who are near and dear to him, near to him. He has a good head on his shoulders, and a lot of self-awareness, but nothing can take the place of a good sounding board provided by people who love you and have your best interests at heart.

Just want to add, in light of the Adam/Sauli ongoing relationship, that even though 1st husband was a “different (typical Latin male)” in his native country, we were able to work it out and stay married for 30 years. Like many marriages of our friends, ours couldn’t survive the NEW culture shock of returning to the US after a civil war and losing everything.

It seems that EW dislikes anything Idol related, they are equal opportunity hater when it comes to AI.
Biebs seems to be their Idol of a choice. No issue without him in it.

Got it, Oksana, tks. Unfortunately, hubby has a subscription – we just got it today. They gave Kelly’s album a B. I think lately they have something against Adam – every single mention has been with snark (the stupid Bullseye, for example). I suspect they want him to do rock, because the Queen thing makes up most of the review. Oh, well, f**k them! Kelly’s album isn’t selling so well, with her B. But McCreery, who they trashed, is going great guns.
Maybe their C+ is a good indicator lol.
riskylady, I don’t know what it is with EW and Adam, but after initial lovefest it seems that they bring only trash about him. Knowing that, I don’t care for their opinion.
Speaking about Queen, my friend visited me yesterday, and I asked her if she wants to see Queen at EMA. Her reaction was like everyone’s else – “WHO is that???? God, what a voice!!” She is not a fan, or AI watcher, but she heard about Adam. She left my place with copy of “Glamnation Tour”, and had to watch some YouTubes on a big screen.Her favourite was Amsterdam PH/WLL. Go figure..

There seems to be a petition circulating through Twitter regarding Adam singing the NA at the Super Bowl. It seems he may be on the radar of the Super Bowl host committee, but that all entertainment is determined by the NFL. The thing is, there is no one around (that I know of) that would kill it the way Adam would.
