I just finished listening to Ryan Seacreast interview.
The worst interview EVER.
I was embarassed ,not for Adam, but for Ryan. Doesn’t he ever listen to himself? He sounds like tabloid jerk. I think that fame went a little to his head.

Ryan’s interview was bad. Adam was so gracious talking about his fans while Ryan’s voice implied WTF. And the 99.7 interview was great! Queen…yippee!
I really hope people give BTIKM a chance. It really does take a few listens for most people and if you’re in your car and only hear it here and there if at all, it will be hard to start liking it.

I stepped away from the computer for just a short time and WOW! So many links were posted. I’ve gotten rusty on keeping up. I will consider this good practice. Should be up to par by the end of March when things will really heat up.

Ryan’s interview: not much damage done, missed opportunity to talk about the music. Women, especially older women, are apparently still a group you can make fun of with impunity in Ryan’s opinion. Disappointing. I believe one of the reasons Adam is so loved by older women is that they just like Adam can relate to being ridiculed and treated as somewhat less than equal.
turquoisewaters As one of those “older” women that were referred to, I think you are on to something. Maybe it’s not thought directly. Maybe just a “sense” that they respond to. I know for me as an “older” lesbian I can really relate to the path Adam has chosen. Do I feel protective? – hell ya. I’ve been “out” in a very conservative part of the midwest. I’ve seen the looks, heard the whispers and lost friends who couldn’t handle my news. So I respond as a woman and a gay.
But no matter what path I chose, that man is just plain sexy and sensual. Anyone can appreciate that!
My one wish I expressed recently is that I really would like interviewers to stop asking about Fingate. Looks like it ain’t gonna happen. This is like the AMA’s which hung on and on for months and months. Sounds like Adam is done with it too, but of course graciously answers.

I think I’m getting the SFO interviews mixed up. The 99.7 NOW SFO was the one he talked about performing with Queen again and I loved the whole interview but they DID bring up Finland.

Adam gave a music lesson on twitter. Waiting at the airport I suppose!
He seemed to be a little sensitive about reviewers talking about his singing BTIKM in falsetto, and set them straight!
I remember on Idol Randy Jackson used to marvel about Adam to the other judges about him using his falsetto! Bet Adam wanted to set him straight! But honestly I didn’t really know the difference until I got used to Adam’s voice and realized it was just him belting out those notes.

I wasn’t as dismayed over the Seacrest interview as some of you were. Not as bad as I feared. He should have played the song though.

I kind of hated that interview, and before I even went onto Twitter or came here to see what others thought, I was like, WTF? I don’t think it was necessarily damaging, but it certainly didn’t help Adam any! A nice word or two of encouragement about BTIKM (if there was one that I missed during my fretting, dismiss this comment) would have been nice.
As to playing the single, I’m not sure how much control Ryan has during his morning show. He’s syndicated all over the place, I think, and so I think there’s a previously set playlist. (If I’m wrong, please feel free to call me out on this. It’s nothing I know for a fact, just an impression.) I think he’ll play the song as an “extra” during the Top 40 on Sunday, along with snippets of his interview (however lame many of us thought that was!)

Just listened to the Maxwell interview – loved it, but in a few places I wished that he would have let Adam continue with what he was saying, instead of jumping in with something else.
Bottom line, I guess I always want interviewers to just hush and let Adam talk as long as he wants, about anything he wants to talk about lol…
Great interview, though, and it shows that Maxwell thinks a lot of Adam.
glambotgram Thanks for the link. I listened to parts of each of these interviews and they were miles better than Ryan’s. And I though I heard a tone of disappointment in Adam’s voice as it ended. Maybe that he didn’t get to talk about his album that much and had to spend all that time on Finland? Did anyone else catch that?

Hehe…thanks, dcglam! Happy to join the crowd! and I have to just accept the fact that I will probably never love his studio albums, I need to just buy them and put them in a drawer and wait for a live performance before I listen to new work.
I thought that 99.7 NOW interview was pretty funny.
Loved Adam’s response about not knowing who the 49ers are playing on Sunday, but knowing the kind of nail polish he is wearing. Love his great sense of humor and that he doesn’t take himself too seriously.
I’ve spent this evening listening to all the interviews. I’ve been comparing them to some interviews from the introduction to the first album.
The big contrast, for me, is that he was excited about album #1, but he is proud of album #2. Focus of conversation for album #1 was the collaborators; focus of conversation for album #2 is Adam and what he wanted to express. I am just loving the interviews and how comfortable he is sharing personal information in ways that he didn’t before (even though he always said that he wore himself on his sleeve).
It was interesting to hear that he smoked briefly in his early 20s – we knew/speculated, but I don’t think Adam ever acknowledged that in an interview before. A cousin Molly with a new baby in San Francisco! A little bit of extended family revealed…loving all of it.
And the list isn’t final for the CD contents? Still deciding about the Bruno Mars song? For realz? Gah! Terrified that March 20 could turn into March 20-ish…our hearts couldn’t take it!!!
I especially enjoyed Sandy Stec’s interview. This was the second one that cwm posted. She let Adam talk, talk, talk, and I loved it! She is very cute, too.
I agree dcglam – both of those interviews I posted were really good, but that Sandy Stec interview is especially wonderful! She did just let him talk, and it was really lovely to hear him talk about where he is in his life, about his relationship, his downtime, his music, his vision, etc. Loved it! Gah he seems so happy and grounded and ready for his next chapter. LOVE

Ok, I confess that I totally expected the next word out of his mouth to be “love,” not “food.” hahaha

I hated the interview with Ryan. I though he was rude and dismissive bringing up that old myth that all Adam’s fans were “nanas” and middle-aged women. NOTE: I AM an older woman, but proud that Adam’s fans are all ages and genders.
Someone should tweet him the pics from the San Fran meet & greet with all those 65-year olds.

Also, dismissive in saying that Sauli was on Turkish Idol and Adam arrested in Turkey. Who doesn’t know it was Finland? That was deliberately rude, to me anyway. He has plenty of staff that could have given him a few details, just as they went to all the trouble to play that bit with the older women. He came off as a jerk.
Adam came off as a sweetheart, clearly describing his WIDE VARIETY of fans, and how happy he is with Sauli.
Loved all the other interviews. He is just so adorable, and MORE QUEEN!!!!!!
I agree, riskylady, I think that Ryan came across as an unprepared jerk just gunning for cheap shots, and Adam came across as articulate, intelligent, diplomatic, loving, and gracious. As always. And Ryan didn’t play BTIKM. It was a missed opportunity for sure, through no fault of Adam’s.
On the brighter side, the written post about the interview on Ryan’s website is much better than the spoken interview, because it just focuses on what ADAM said, not what Ryan said. And it includes a link to the BTIKM audio track.
