The first month of 2012 finds Adam’s new single “Better Than I Know Myself” already making its appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, as we await the “official” radio add dates of January 23 (HAC) and January 30 (CHR). Hoping for much promo and excitement in the next few months as things build toward the release of Adam’s second album “Trespassing” on March 20. We should have a new tour to look forward to later this year as well! Enjoy the chat!

Lucky you, Ron! Come back after and give us a report!!

  2. Ron says:

    Commercial

Sauli sitting with Terrence and a brief shot of the audience shows them in the audience 2 minutes into the show. I think Sauli’s sporting a mowhawk.

7 minutes: Terrence featured dancing in the aisle. Returns to seat and another brief shot of Sauli.

    Rob Lowe up next.

  3. Ron says:

Let me quickly say, Ellen begins her intro to Adam at exactly 45 minutes into the show by my clock. His performance and hug with Ellen afterwards ends exactly 4 minutes later at 49 minutes.

For those recording and only want Adam’s segment.

Aww, Adam has the sweetest, most devoted friends. I’m so happy that Terrence was there, dancing and sitting with Sauli. In Love

Just watched the Leno performance four more times again, and everytime I notice something new. Evidently, Ashley’s strap broke within the first few notes – even before Adam starts singing! What a girl – that would’ve killed my knees to have to sit like that for so long, and look sexy in a short dress at the same time! Anyway, she’s rather mesmerizing to me – I’m really liking the vibe I get from her, and she’s cute as a bug. I’m sure you all saw her tweet that Ricky Minor gave her a guitar strap after the show (I read so many blogs, can’t remember if I saw that here or not!). I think the new band is KILLER – I love all of them. I really hope Kevin is here for all of era 2. And was Tommy chewing gum?

  9. Ron says:

IMO, this is a better performance than on Leno. Same emotion but more relaxed. No trembling hand this time. Vocal was flawless. Wails were better than on Leno with just a bit more vibrato added which I love. The last note is killer. Wish he ended the record with same kind of powerful last note. I actually wasn’t thrilled with Adam on Leno but this one I like a lot!

When he waves at Sauli he says, “Hi Baby“.

Ellen gives him the option to talk about Finland and he does go into the story.

Favorite quote: “The Universe always sends you wake up calls”.

Juice diet: “Lots of kale, celery and beets”. No comment. ROTFL

I’m sure you’re all going to enjoy this performance!

  10. glambotgram says:

Thanks for the timeline Ron. That lets me know I will have to watch it on DVR later. Off to work.

By the way everyone where is mils I miss her perspective in all this flailing.

  11. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

    Sauli looked beautiful!!!

Gotta go – thanks for all the info, Ron! Can’t wait to see this on my TV this afternoon.

  13. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

I lied – peeked back in and saw asif’s link!! Loved it – seems like they might have slowed the tempo just a bit, and I agree that Adam seemed much more relaxed. Sounded great and, as we expected and looked forward to, he’s already changing it up! Bravo!!!! Clap

  14. asifclueless says:

    Holy Maccaroni!!!!!
    It’s better than Leno.
Adam is more relaxed and he ROCKED IT OUT.

  15. cwm says:

Holy crap! KIISFM 102.7 sent out a text that they wanted people to tweet them questions to ask Adam when Ryan Seacrest interviews him. So I tweeted them a couple of questions for Adam.

Then I got this reply from them:

    1027KIISFM 102.7 KIIS-FM
@cwm122 DM us your cell number and we’ll try and get you on the air to ask Adam your question!!!

AAAACCCKKK!! I sent them my cell number (first DM I’ve ever sent – I hope I did it right!), but I have no idea when this interview is likely to happen, whether I’ll be available, and whether I’ll be able to keep it together if they do call me. OMGGGGG!!!!

  16. little dutchess says:

asifclueless thanks for the ustream! Not the best quality here but I couldn’t wait.! Will get on the youtube you posted after this. Am taping it from TV at 4pm this afternoon as I will still be working.

Ron I’m in your camp wit this one!

  17. apal123 says:

Thanks asif. This doesn’t air until 3:00 here and I just couldn’t resist. I have no self control!! This was great as usual and I loved the more casual look. HE just makes my heart flutter.

  18. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

OMG cwm!!! Fingers crossed that you get the call – how cool is that?! Fingers Crossed

  19. cwm says:

Thanks for the rundown on the Ellen performance Ron! I am going to do my best to hold off until I can watch it on my TV.

So did both the sit-down and the song take place between the 45- and 49-min marks? Four minutes seems short for both a sit down and a performance. Was the sit-down super brief?

  20. cwm says:

I know right?? Can’t believe it!! Breathe in. Breathe out. The thing is that I do actually take kids to school, have a job, etc. etc. so timing could be tricky.

  21. renataademelo says:

That´s so much better than Leno!
You can hardly hear that backing tracks. It´s a full live band playing which means you can hear Adam´s voice so much clear.
    PERFECT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Laugh

  22. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

Has this Jim Cantiello article been posted here yet? It’s a run-down of winners/stand-outs from Seasons 6-10. Just loved what he wrote about Adam – what an impressive resume!

    Season Eight
The One You Know: Adam Lambert hit the ground running as soon as “Idol” ended, and the magnetic star hasn’t slowed down since. Grammy nominations, a sold-out world tour, concert DVDs, remix EPs, a debut album that went gold, a “Behind the Music” special, a passionate fanbase, a heralded appearance with Queen and an unprecedented guest-mentor spot on “Idol.” But most importantly, Lambert is dropping a new album March 20, Trespassing, and it boasts collaborators as big as his vocal range: Bruno Mars, Nile Rodgers, Pharrell Williams, Dr. Luke and many more.

ETA: And he didn’t even include all the goodness! The full article is linked in mj’s “headlines” today.

  23. Ron says:

    Good Morning, cwm!

The song takes place at the 45 minute mark and lasts for 4 minutes. Then there’s a commercial and after that Ellen interviews Adam for another 4 minutes (approximately). So, roughly 8 minutes of Adam.

  24. asifclueless says:

Sorry Guys!!! I was too excited.
If you want to wait for Ellen Show on your big TV screen, please ignore my posts.
I don’t have a fat chance to see Ellen on my TV until many days later.
Ron, Which performance do you prefer to?

  25. milwlovesadam says:

I’ve been away for a few days, real life, real life, real life.

First. Condolences to those who have suffered losses recently. I am keeping you in my thoughts. And, am so glad we have this place to share of ourselves besides our “real life” friends.

So. He’s been on Leno looking sublime. My prediction of a couple of weeks ago of less glam, less makeup, seems to have been fulfilled. Yay! To say he looked gorgeous is an understatement. Oh. And. HAIR. Oh my goodness. HAIR!!!

I saw the nerves and jitters right away. Poor baby. Sounded great. Loved the wails. And the hair.

To say he looked dorky while jogging is also an understatement. Oh well. Baby, those are basketball shorts, not running shorts. Sauli, UNF.

    No Bryon Cooke yet. Dammit.

    No BTIKM video yet. Gol-dangit.

Ellen at 3PM in my area. Ninjas. Thank you. Bowing and clapping. Terrance dancing. OMG, has he got moves. Leila and Neil and Sauli there, love it. Sauli, looking resplendent, glowing. Neil, glowering as usual. For some reason, love that too. ( I know. It’s the “bad boy” thing).

Gotta go. Son #1 back from a month over-seas from a study trip. Mom duties needed, shopping, help with laundry and re-settling into college. Yes, he helps, but, what can I say? Mom on duty. Ready and willing to serve.

Tee-Hee. I will need to sneak a peek at Ellen later for full interview, etc. Hoping for another jet-lag crash of son #1 to see it on my big screen HD TV. And avoid eye-balls rolling across the floor.

  26. rainbowgal4 says:

nkd Your Mom is in my prayers for a speedy recovery and that your life gets back to it’s normal. After all you need time for this Adam watching that you do so well.

asif – Thank you for the kind words. I have such fun here with all of you – your excitement is so contagious.

Ron – Thanks for all the posts about his appearance on Ellen. Have to run – don’t even have time to watch right now.

  27. cwm says:

OMG OMG OMG KIISFM just called me and we made arrangements for them to call me at 10:30 this morning during their interview with Adam. Holy cow. Be still my beating heart.

  28. Ron says:

cwm!!! Congratulations! You’re going to have Adam Lambert on the other end of your phone! Don’t ever wash it. Big Smile

  29. Ron says:

    Hi little dutchess!!

Ron I’m in your camp wit this one!

Good to see you! I’d go camping with you anytime, anywhere. Wink My best to the Duke.

  30. Ron says:

    Hi asif!

Ron, Which performance do you prefer to?

I think today’s performance on “Ellen” was better than on “Leno”. On “Leno”, he looked and sounded very much like this was the first time he was performing the song. On “Ellen”, he looked and sounded as though he’d been performing BTIKM for a while and was very comfortable with it. Interesting that he began both performances with the same introspective stance. I think it’s very effective.

  31. TexasWannaHoldEm says:

cwm, break a leg, knock ’em dead, swing for the fences, etc. etc. etc. Congratulations – I’m so excited for you!

  32. cwm says:

Got a little excess energy building up here. Can I scream for a minute? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

    Have to remember to breathe.

    This is ridiculous.

  33. cwm says:

The question I will be asking Adam is this: You have talked a lot about how this new album is very personal, and that the past 2 years have been transformative for you. What have you learned about yourself over the past 2 years that is reflected in your new album?

  34. loveroftalent says:

@cwmGreat question and congratulations on getting picked to talk to Adam on the radio…..Go ahead and scream to let your nerves settle dowm…I don’t think I would be able to string two words together if I was talking to Adam on the phone, let alone face to face….

Are you up early or up late? Lol

OMG luval! I didn’t realize how late it was! whoops! I hadn’t been to bed yet. You know sleep is not something I get much of, right? Even way less since S8! Big Frown

  36. asifclueless says:

CONGRATULATIONS … cwm. OMG… Lucky You!!!
I would have scared him away by my heavy breathing through the phone though. heh.. Is it skyp, that you can see him?

Ron Ditto with your reply. PERFECT PERFORMANCE!!!
He will be betterer and betterer. And .. what a band!!!!
Can’t wait for his concert tour.

  37. glambotgram says:

This is so exciting! I had a dream yesterday that I talked to Adam on the phone, it must have been you! Smile
Go scream, then compose yourself! Great question by the way!

Here’s an mp3 for the Ellen performance. I’ve downloaded it but am not listening yet. I’m waiting this time!

  40. Oksana2000 says:

I will not watch ANYTHING regarding Ellen online. I will not watch anything online. I will not watch…

I’m a 5 star kind of camper! Not really 5 star-but have to have a few creature comforts! Under those circumstances I’m a “happy camper” and always when Adam is involved! Let’s hope we all can get together sometime this year for that kind of camping trip!!!!

  42. nkd says:

    Jordan Meehan @JordanMeehan
Wow. Adams new album will be the sound of 2012. Phenomenal.

@HolyHookah just met with his PR people and heard a lot of it. Its gonna fucking smash

This album effortlessly fuses together dance pop, rock and bits of dubstep, making each track both individually distinct and irresistible.

Adam’s new album is extremely forward thinking and has a very unique sound that you don’t hear ANYWHERE in mainstream pop music right now.

It is LIGHT YEARS better than his first album, FYE (which I love), and will undoubtedly be a smash. Album of 2012, without a doubt

@Ala4afam Oooh you guys should be VERY excited! This album is going to define this entire year in music.

@JakeKills Yep. Outlaws of Love is heartbreaking. The live version was amazing but the album one…oh my god.

@GlambertsArmy This album is going to kick Europe’s ass

@Kathryn17 A lot of them are single material, in all honesty. While it isn’t a single’s album (it’s a very cohesive piece of work), a lot
@Kathryn17 of the songs on their would do VERY well as singles. Cookoo and Shady, two of the ones I’ve heard, will smash.

This guy is writing a review for Electoqueer. I’ll bring it over as soon as it comes up.
I can not wait for this album. Everyone is gushing over it!

The twitter link if anyone is interested. There’s a little more than what I put here. https://twitter.com/#!/JordanMeehan

  43. cwm says:

10 mins to go until they call.

Have been breathing deeply. Have my tea and lip balm handy in case of dry mouth. Have my comments and questions written out.

    I’m ready.

Thanks for all of your great well wishes! I’ll give him love on behalf of all of you! I’ll let you know how it goes!!

  44. luval says:

Don’t hate me if I say “hype” again. Please please pleas let the real thing live up to the hype!!!!

  45. nkd says:

luval…these are radio people, music bloggers, etc. getting a listen to some of the tracks and gushing over them. They don’t have to say these things. I’m taking this as very positive buzz for the album and subsequent singles to come off of it.
    It gets me really excited!
But I do understand where you’re coming from, not wanting too much build up and then get a let down if it’s not what all are saying!

Everyone is going on about Cookoo, but didn’t Adam say he had to fight for this one? It makes me wonder what record companies are thinking!

  46. nkd says:
  47. cwm says:

Well. I was on hold for 15 minutes, and then the little gal (who sounded 22 and called me “hon”) came back on and was very sad to say that they ran out of time and weren’t able to take calls from anyone.

So, after all that buildup, no chance to chat with Adam. Cry *tears*

She promised me that she conveyed to him my (our) love. I could hear Ryan and Adam talking in the background while I was talking with her, for what it’s worth.

Gotta say, it did make for an exciting morning.

Once the butterflies and the shaking hands calm down, I’ll be fine.

    Back to work. Sigh.

  48. nkd says:

    Awww cwm. So sadz! Frown

Here’s a bit from the EQ review.

While this album is extremely foward-thinking and sonically progressive, this isn’t all that makes it great. What makes this album so wonderful is that you can really feel Adam’s personality shining through in each song. Few artists have the ability to do what Adam does here: to create a piece of art that stems straight from the heart and soul while still sounding so unique, futuristic and amazing.

  49. nkd says:
  50. cher says:

Double awwwww cwm. The anticipation was worth it though. You might have just gotten tongue-tied when he was on with you anyway, right? Look on the bright side! At least you could hear him talking in the background. Frown He was right in front of me at the barricades in Tampa and no one else was vying for his attention. He said “Hi” and I said…..nothing…. Cry Even Neil spoke to me and I said….nothing… Cool very uncool and unlike me who’s a chatterbox normally. Laugh
