The first month of 2012 finds Adam’s new single “Better Than I Know Myself” already making its appearance on the Billboard Hot 100, as we await the “official” radio add dates of January 23 (HAC) and January 30 (CHR). Hoping for much promo and excitement in the next few months as things build toward the release of Adam’s second album “Trespassing” on March 20. We should have a new tour to look forward to later this year as well! Enjoy the chat!

despite the fact that my strap fell off in the first few seconds of the song, i managed to kneel down and keep playing. the show must go on!

did i mention how fortunate i feel to be a part of this well-oiled machine? I <3 adam and my bandmates. some of the sweetest/talented folks.

This gorgeous strap w STRAP-LOCKS was given to me by the very generous @RickeyMinor after seeing mine fail. #lifesaver http://pic.twitter.com/hF1GDbWM

jlurksacto, Heart Heart Heart Heart Thank you for that vid!! Only one I could find at this late hour!! Hubby recorded it for me, but I am in Atlanta (freezing my Florida a** off taking care of little sis (10 yrs younger) who just had a knee replacement.

Rainbowgal, so nice to see you back again – my sympathy for your travails. Hope the good company + Adam is good medicine!

Saw the performance last night, but on a small TV with low volume. Still, all I have to say is: FLAIL FLAIL FLAIL.
How does he UP it every single time? I think we are now outside our galaxy and heading for the space boonies!

  6. riskylady says:

OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMB (DITTO DITTO DITTO AD INFINITUM……..) Just was able to listen to and watch that video. Cannot believe how amazing he was. Broke my heart though to see how he clung to the mike stand at first – the nerves must have been so strong – and agree with you guys, a little tremble and maybe a tear. I think only us seasoned fans would pick that up, though.
But he is just the consummate professional and pulled it off so beautifully. Not a single male pop/rocker currently that could sing that song like that. Hope lots and lots of PDs and DJs were watching!!! Cannot wait for the video.

  7. cgesq says:

    Hi All,
Have to admit, at the risk of being ostracized, that I didn’t love the digital version of the song. However, I absolutely LOVED the live performance!!! It got me back into Adam mode and I now want more more more!!! Adam looked and sounded amazing, and I am so looking forward to the tour.

Rainbowgal, I’m sorry to read about your loss. I too lost my mother this past year, and it is difficult. Luckily, we have each other and Adam to help us through it.

Ceddies, please accept my belated condolences on your loss.

  8. glambotgram says:

cgesq No one will ostracize you here.

I think a great many of Adam’s fans buy his music to support him but LIVE for the live performances. We download different versions make playlists of our favorites, and usually put the recorded stuff on the back burner. He is just so awesome when performing live and changing up the songs to suit his mood.

HAHA a line from VH1 —vertiginous?? Had to look that one up.

Looking sharp as always in his signature glam-goth style and vertiginous hair.

  9. rainbowgal4 says:

riskylady I will have to call my sister-in-law in Roswell if it’s that cold. Of course we are near zero here in the midwest so I can’t rib her too much. I could the day we had 75 degrees (just a week ago) and she was at 55 degrees! I hope your sister has a speedy recovery. And thank you for the kind words.

cgesq So many of us have lost our mothers this last year. Wow! I’m so grateful for the support that everyone on this site has given me and all of you. My relationship with her was on the phone (she lived 900 miles away) and each day I reach for the phone to tell her something. She was my hero. You will be in my thoughts and prayers as you go forward.

I’ve watched the videos over and over again. Always see something new. But the emotional reaction to his singing just gets deeper and deeper for me. He touches my soul and warms my heart. What a gift we all have been given.

Did you all see the promo on Ellens home page for tomorrow’s show. She advertizes Adam and Rob Lowe and also a trip to the Ellen “store”. She has a cup from “Adam Lambert’s dressing room” and turns it around and it has lipstick marks on it! Kiss Kissed lol!!

Hi nkd …I think that’s great about Adam fighting the lawsuit. After reading everything I totally believe he should take it to a jury.

And that was a great video too.

Did ya notice he didn’t have an earpiece on. I just love that drum back beat and when he flips his head back…..

10 Top ‘American Idol’ Game Changers of All Time: Adam Lambert, David Cook, Clay Aiken

    8. Adam Lambert Turns Idol Up to 11

He was unlike any contestant Idol audiences had ever seen: a makeup-wearing, octave-defying, glam-rocking showman who could wail with the best of them (and did he ever) and hold back when need be, to deliver a nuanced, pitch-perfect performance. Each of Adam Lambert’s season 8 numbers told a story, from the anguish of “Tracks of My Tears” to the cautious optimism of “Black and White,” the haunting “Mad World” and the dramatic “Ring Of Fire,” but more importantly: they entertained. In a truly game-changing act, the show had to learn to keep up with Lambert’s theatricality and in turn introduced more adventurous lighting and effects. It’s a benefit future Idols, like season 10’s James Durbin who was allowed fire for one of his performances, would reap for years to come and just another reason to bow down to Lambert’s Idol throne. Hi luval!

  18. nkd says:

This album was born to fly.
It’s also something I can imagine in full being more of a ‘piece of work’ rather than just a male pop vocalist album. The scope to push boundaries with the tracks I’ve heard is huge.
It also feels like an album that will take him from being a name ‘from Idol’ in Europe to a serious player. A household name.

    Ahhh! I want it NOW!!!!

I’m so glad to see that OOL will be on the album. I can’t wait for this version.

Good afternoon, just watched the BTIKM video from last night. I definitely like the live version of the song a good deal more than I liked the studio version. We’ll see what happens, I would have preferred to see more of a response on Itunes this morning.

The RS article that nkd linked above is right on the money IMO.

Great Dean Piper article too – thanks nkd! Interesting comments about BTIKM being a “soft launch”.

Just got back from my brother’s house (he’s a straight businessman…not a glambert by a long stretch)). I sent him a video from last night. His thoughts…Adam was amazing. And out of the blue he says “it’s a great song”. So glad to hear that. But he’s not an itunes user or album buyer so poo on him!

And eywflyer…that “soft launch” statement IMO is a huge deal. It’s exactly how I feel but couldn’t find the words. Like most businesses…and this is a business!

Maybe people slept in, had to go to work and didn’t bother with itunes. Then again we have Ellen and the video. I think these 2 things will make it or break it for the single. Of course I should say radio spins too. End of January??

nkd…that Stockholm unplugged Feb. 5th is great news. Right after Austria. So maybe he’s going to be in Europe for a while. The U.K. is in the mix somewhere in February, isn’t it?

eta: So how many hours ahead is Stockholm from the east coast? JUST KIDDING!!!! I can figure it out now. Smile

I re-read the Dean Piper blog and when he was talking about Shady he said something about “guest vocals”. Wonder who that could be? Or should I already know this?

  27. nkd says:

Luval…I would guess Sam Sparro as guest vocals on that song since they wrote it together. Sam was the one that contacted Nile, if you remember.
But who knows? Adam is so dang secretive! Wink

  28. rainbowgal4 says:

If you read the blog about who’s featured on the song Shady it has this with the title “(Feat. Nile Rogers and Sam Sparro)”. To me I think both are singing along.

  29. HK fan says:

luval, I don’t know how to check I tunes myself, but it seems it did get a bit of a bump, was at 1000 and something (don’t know exact number) before the show, and today was up to about 780, thats from mj’s. Maybe its even higher now.

  30. dcglam says:

Well, I watched Adam’s Leno performance 3 times on my TV last night, then went to bed at around 1:30 AM. I was much too keyed up to sleep. Unfortunately, I was up at the crack of dawn this morning for work. Ugh — Not a very good start to the day! However, things greatly improved. On my way home from work I heard not only WWFM, but also BTIKM on my car radio — different stations. BTIKM was played on 101.5 here in DC. Afterwards, the DJ mentioned that this was a “new song by Adam Lambert, Better Than I Know Myself.” By the way, Adam sounds incredible on the car radio!!!

Now about the Leno performance (finally)….
Is it possible for this guy to be loved any more than he already is??? What an absolutely brilliant performance! Adam looked about as classy as they come. His vocals were stellar and spot on. Adam’s “new band” is a total class act as well. They all looked incredibly professional and did Adam proud. I’m so happy right now and so looking forward to the rest of the songs from Trespassing. Smile

Ack…. I’m about ready to quit my job! To my utter disappointment, I’m not able to access this video now. Frown

  33. luval says:

thanks rainbowgal4 & nkd. That sounds right. Maybe a little rap? Smile

HK fan…I saw that too about BTIKM moving to 780 on itunes. Doesn’t seem very high but peeps over there and comments I’ve seen on 24/7 seem to think that is not bad. But for this point on, I’m going to remember the “soft launch” thing from Dean Piper. There are bigger and better things to come from this album. But I still want BTIKM to kill it in sales!!!

  34. rainbowgal4 says:

luval I think the number will change greatly once that song hits the airwaves. Right now there are not that many, except true fans, that are hearing the song. Come the end of January (really do we have to wait that long!!!) I expect the number to go up quickly.

  35. eywflyer says:

That RS article really sums up the situation quite well I think:

In 2009, Season Eight runner-up Adam Lambert eclipsed that year’s winner Kris Allen from the very start and has since been the quintessential Problem Child for 19 and Sony.

Lambert has potential, but his brand needs constant nurturing and policing to survive. Problem Children can become Stars or Dogs. They have the potential for high growth but they require significant investments of time and money and a lot of nurturing.

As we (and Adam) have known for a while now, this album will probably make or break.

From that screen cap of Adam with Ellen it looks like he was wearing a suit and tie. I think that fits with this song. Kinda like WWFM video.

  40. Kradamour says:

So glad that the video is still available to watch! Just in case, I downloaded it last night, but I really want everyone who just learned about it to be able to access.

ewyflyer, I was going to quote the same line you did from the RS article. And I agree that this album will make or break his potential for superstardom. With the new love in his life, if superstardom doesn’t happen I think Adam would be able to be content with a less stratospheric career. Most of his fans wouldn’t settle for that, though.

Beautiful beautiful performance. I wish I could love the song more, but it doesn’t even really matter. Loved the performance. Boy could sing the phone book and I would just sit back, listen, and be in heaven. Heart

  49. nkd says:

Fingate was news all over the world and he needs to be able to answer to this. I know we would all prefer it go away, but there are many that are going to believe the Perez version that was so widely reported until they hear from Adam. They may still prefer to believe the worst, but Adam has to address this.

  50. JOJOSIE says:

On his current Internet show with Katria he shows that the ring he wears is not on his left hand but his right and is a ring of his sisters. He won’t comment too much on the oofta tattoos as he hints they have a very personal meaning. That leave a lot for us to guess and my imagination is running wild. I have a real crush on Sauli, he just seems to radiate happiness. I’d really like them to show him on Ellen, even an audience shot like the do with Ellen’s mother.
