eta: Went to splinterkey.com Kevin’s website. A little video recorded a couple of weeks ago. One New Year’s resolution for them (Vanity Machine…his band) was to “dominate more stages”. Wonder what will happen to the band? My guess is stay with them, play Adam gigs as they come up and then eventually tour of course.

Couple of thoughts about the addition of Kevin Hastings….
I would think that using Monte as both the lead guitarist and musical director proved to be economical for Adam’s first tour. Adam should be a bit “richer” this time around, so it would make sense for him to be able to hire a separate musical director who could fill in for Cam whenever necessary. Isn’t she part of another band anyway??? I’m thinking that maybe this is all part of the plan. She may not be committing to Adam 100% — Of course, I know NOTHING and am just speculating. Ha, I think I need to get myself a Twitter account so I can ask Adam all these questions during his next Twitter party. I’m sure he can’t wait to answer them all for me…..

I don’t think anyone as talented and into keyboards as much as Kevin appears to be will not be playing. Most artist I followed (well only a few) the music director always played and was more or less the lead musician like Monte was. Maybe Cam has decided to do more work on her own or they may have two keyboards. We’ll all see tomorrow night. I’m staying up late and watching after all it’s Adam.
Just jumping in to say, how do we know Adam was saying “oy” and not OYE, a Spanish word (may also be Portuguese) which means, “Hey” or “Listen!” Very common slang word in Europe, and probably California, and Florida too.
Jojosie, agree that Kevin will probably play. He does say, “Watch us play tomorrow,” after all.
I’m team “much ado about nothing” on Twitter. Cannot believe how people lately jump all over Adam and feel they have the right and moral obligation to tell him what to do, say and how to live his life.

In a little over 24 hours, we’ll all be spellbound watching Adam give his first live performance of BTIKM on Leno!! And a new addition to the band – I can’t wait to see and hear them all.
It’s been so long since we had new “Adam” music to enjoy – I almost feel like this performance is a mirage – we’ve been thirsting for so long, not sure I can trust my senses, lol!
OMG, this is so funny I can hardly stand it. Someone tweeted Kevin the New Guy the “Open Letter” at the Home Planet and he read it.
Can’t say I’ll miss Cam if she’s not there, she isn’t very dynamic, I never even notice her normally, she’s always in the background with her hair over her face, I don’t think I’ve ever even heard her speak. Looking foward to seeing the video of tomorrows performance, and if I’m honest I will admit to being a little bit nervous, I just want him to do so well and make lots of people go out and buy it!!

Disgusted that these showed up on the bastard album guy’s site and are being circulated from there. I want that guy and all his cronies far far away from Adam. I was a little apprehensive when I saw that the guy who tweeted them out was playing with Monte and there were a lot of tweets between the two of them.
ETA While I did not hold Monte responsible for release of albums or was I even really upset with him, once the lawsuit happened and he did not backtrack and get out of the situation I feel he is as guilty of backstabbing as the rest. OK rant over

why am I the only one who, while very excited, is very nervous about tonite’s performance? BTIKM is a great song BUT it is not an easy song: MANY COMPLEX LAYERS, A LOT OF WORDS, AND SOME RATHER DIFFICULT PHRASING. And that’s just for the lyrics! The music is also rather complex and layered…different drum beats for different sections etc. And new band members. Now what could go wrong? The first time it’s being done live! Now we know Adam can almost walk on water but…
I so badly want this to be the beginning of the biggest success for Adam and I’m just a bit nervous. Not meaning to be a Debbie Downer, just a nervous mama hen.
little duchess I understand your feelings but if there is anyone out there up to the task it is Adam. He knows how important this performance is and I am sure there have been many many practices.
I am just excited to see how well he is going to do, and what his hair will look like, what he will be wearing, replaying it many times and watching the spike in BTIKM numbers.
I understand your nerves, little dutchess. I’m just a titch nervous too. BUT it is important to remember that Leno is not broadcast live. It is pre-taped at about 5:00pm-ish Pacific time and is not broadcast until 8:30pm Pacific (for the east coast). So there is time for a re-do if the first take doesn’t work out for whatever reason.
Same will apply to Ellen too. I remember when Adam appeared on Oprah he redid one of the songs he performed because he wasn’t satisfied with the first one.
I’m sure you’re not the only one.
I agree – a first performance – on national television – with two new bandmates – OYE!!!! But we all know what an experienced professional he is – and we know that this first performance will be the foundation for subsequent versions; small changes in phrasing, adding a beautiful falsetto note when least expected, throwing in exquisite vocal runs, etc. The journey will be so much fun to witness and discuss!

HKfan, I agree with you. Although Cam is a very capable keyboardist, she just doesn’t seem to embrace the flambuoyant, gregarious stage persona that some of the others have. Maybe she’s still busy with UhHuh. I really liked the previous girl, Lisa.
