January seemed to just zip by. It was, of course, Adam’s birthday month but he also managed to get in some skiing (or après-skiing), some parties and even rehearsing new music. This month Adam is set to perform at the Family Equality Council Awards on Feb. 8. He also will be back on Glee on Feb. 25 and there is even a rumor that he will be on Idol later this month as well. It looks like this month will zip right by too – and that gets us closer to a possible Q+AL tour and new music!

    Well, the facial hair is similar, luval – but, for me, not much else. Never found LD particularly attractive.

    Morning! I just watched season three episode one of Sherlock Holmes. The episode dealt with an issue that a lot of Glamberts can relate to. It so happens that, during the 2-year hiatus, Dr. Watson has grown a moustache, which does not appeal to Sherlock at all. To quote him, he “likes my doctors clean-shaven”. For the first half Sherlock drops the question into almost every conversation they have. Ultimately, Sherlock prevails when he deduces that Watson’s fiancé hates the moustache but has been afraid to say-so out of loyalty ( like a true Glambert Smile ). She admits it and…..Watson shaves.

    The episode also addresses the obsessives fans and the fan fics that arose during the show’s hiatus to explain how Holmes faked his death, complete with hashtags and an Adommy Cray-style kiss with Moriarty.

    Glamberts and Cumberbitches have a lot in common, including two tall dark handsome leading men.

    RE: GLEE – I had never heard the Rockstar songs from either of these bands ’til now, Not a huge fan of either but I’m sure Adam and Chris will do a bang-up job of whatever they’re given.

    Agree with luval about the Big Old World version being better suited to Glee. These two characters have been working at their music for years. They’re more interested in performing than they are in the perks that go with it. Nickelback’s song is too cynical for them.

    Musically speaking, if I want cynical I’ll pick Dire Straits’s “Money for Nothing” over Nickelback’s song any day.

    From press conference with BBC1/Capital FM. I screen capped the QA. Biggest radio station PD in UK. Adam didn’t stand a chance. No wonder he needs younger fans. They think Madonna’s fans are to old in their 30’s. Interesting but complete arbitrary BS.
    The biggest things I got out of it is you have to sound like everyone else to get played, unless you are really established or have HUGE buzz, have very young fans or have a ton of fans that are super active on YouTube, twitter and their online stations. Plus, the label needs to kiss ass and pay. (not stated outright but let’s be real) Also, test groups are a big deal on impressions. Unless the PD believes in an artist if the test group says no for whatever reason and they don’t have the Miley like numbers (100 million you tube views in a week) you are done.

    The first one is the beginning. Start at the bottom and read up on each one.

    That is how radio works. Other broadcasters were there but the Greg guy is the main guy from what I could understand. Big radio stations dictate what smaller stations play. Just like here and how Clear Channel runs radio. The UK people are just more upfront about what happens. Adam and his label have some major work ahead. It is everything I, we, thought about radio but it is hard to take when it is in black and white.

    If Beyoncé is considered too mature then man…..that sucks.

    Let me be clear though. I think Adam is in a totally different place than he was when Trespassing was released. Will it be hard work, yes, but he and his team are really taking their time and positioning him to be more in the public eye this time around. Touring with Queen may not do anything to get him new(younger) fans but I would bet a bunch of the “old straight white dudes” that run radio respect, admire and listen to Queen and that can’t hurt. Being on Glee, Idol and even Drag Queen are big platforms and who knows what else is coming. I still believe IHeart helped him tons in the eyes of the powers that be at those stations. Ryan has him on his website all the time and even if people say some negative things – the point is people are TALKING about him again. Not only his super fans but people know he is back out there. All very good. His global fans are a HUGE plus as well. Like I have said before I will be SHOCKED if this era is not vastly more successful than the last.

    There’s a mandatory license fee in the UK which funds about 3/4 of the BBC1 (avoiding is a criminal offense) – nice work if you can get it.
