Another month has arrived, the last one before Adam’s new album “Trespassing” will be released! February will hopefully see Adam’s lead single “Better Than I Know Myself” continue to gain airplay and sales. There should be a bump from the music video which is expected early this month. Meanwhile Adam will likely continue working on promo events in preparation for his upcoming album release, which is slated for March 20 here in the US. Perhaps with more promo being done ahead of the album release this time around, the next tour can begin by this summer? Enjoy the chat!

Update 2/4/2012: BTIKM music video was released Thursday night, feel quite certain we’ll be seeing plenty of it on VH1 in the next few weeks!

That was beautiful. (Shame on me for first hearing something else. Where is the corner when I need it?)
    Teri63:

I’ve reminded myself that as a kind of competitive fan, I’ve wanted him to grind the other popstars into pulp as he shows the universe that he’s the best vocalist I’ve heard in literally decades.

Haha. SO well put. I admit to the same competitive impulses.

ITA, but I’m sure he’s not really too surprised by the negative comments. The same bozos spouted their idiotic crap after his EMA performance. What I don’t get is this: If you’re not going to be at a particular event anyway, why would you give a shit who’s singing? I mean, aside from my Adam adoration, I love Neil Young, David Bowie and Peter Frampton (ooops, my age is showing). I’ve seen Frampton and Neil Young live, and in both cases, I loved what I saw but never fretted or even knew about what they did at other events. Sorry, but I’m guessing most of these hater people are just idiotic trouble makers in general or are anti-gay or anti-Idol, and Adam having such a powerful accomplishment threatens their own uneducated, twisted views.

    Yep, the typical bully syndrome….
As a teacher, I see this way too many times with students.
Negative behavior = Negative attention = Negative followers Frown

This year my 12 year old grandson met with his first bully. They were assigned the same lunch table and had many classes together. He met my grandson in the bathroom and told him he’d better not tell anyone what he(the bully) was doing or he’d make it worse for my grandson. My grandson told his Mom about this event and they came up with a plan. If they ever met like that again (which they did) my grandson took a couple of steps towards the bully and said – Go ahead, tell me how you’ll make it worse for me. Tell me, now!! Well in this case it worked. My grandson is taller than this other child and the smaller one backed down and so far has left my grandson alone.

I agree there is just too much of this angry behavior around. And it’s very sad.

Thanks to those of you who posted your “chin-up” and optimistic perspectives. I needed that. I’m definitely an optimistic chin-up type person and I usually keep Adam news in pretty balanced perspective and don’t get overinvested. But for some reason I just felt sucker-punched by the lack of adds for BTIKM today. I could actually feel the tightness in my gut I was so frustrated by it. And I’ve got big deadlines looming at work so I should really be focusing my energies on getting my work done instead of worrying about radio adds for Adam, for crying out loud! But I get so damn sucked in; he’s so addictive and he’s so much better than so many other popstars out there who get constant radio play and I want so badly for him to succeed… yadda yadda yadda. I think you all know the feeling.

Anyway, thanks for sharing your perspectives, it helps me feel better. I’m confident that Adam will find success in some measure; it may just take longer or be more circuitous than we would necessarily want for him.

Regarding the “haters” on the Queen thing, I suspect that Brian, Roger, and Adam all knew that reactions to the announcement would be a mixed brew of both positive and negative. Surely for years Brian and Roger have seen the negative reactions of the “Freddie purists” to anything they try to do without Freddie and I’m sure Adam had a heads up about that phenomenon – hence his carefully worded statements about not replacing or copying Freddie, paying him tribute, etc. So I hope they’re amused by all the pissing and moaning and using it as motivation to get their game on and totally slay this gig. But the pressure is on, that’s for sure. Expectations are going to be super high. Adam has balls of steel and I have great admiration and respect for him for taking on this challenge.

  18. rainbowgal4 says:

    Very well said.
I hope you have the energy and drive to tackle your work pressures. I’m sending you extra support for your projects. I too should be putting together all our tax papers. UGH! So tomorrow there will be no excuses. (So Adam, please stay off twitter for at least 12 hours. Please!!)

ETA: had to watch the 94.3 interview before I got back to work…everyone else is asleep so I kept sound off – try it! Adam’s face is so animated, his eyes…without audio, it was easier to concentrate on his gorgeousness, his obvious happiness, his animation…but how pitiful is it that I am even happy watching silent Adam???
Okay, I’ve officially gone off the deep end. (shrugs) No matter! Smile

Too busy the past few days to even breathe and this Adam event did not help. Am now booked into a hotel with 8 others so far 2 miles from the venue. Prices outrageous already and so are the airfares. Olympics didn’t help. Bought the cheap day ticket and will mix with the masses and wear DEPENDS since I’m obviously not worthy of a proper bathroom due to a cheap ticket which isn’t that cheap either Frown
Littleduchess or anyone going that needs the hotel info can message me on the fansite or here. I’m findable! Feels so exciting but stressful! Kiss

The radio play is so, so frustrating. Could you all politely write to the stations and ask why his song has not been added, especially the stations he’s visited, like that 94.3 The point, I mean that woman was basically orgasmic over him, but have they added it yet??? and z100, all the dj’s seem to glad to have him there, and impressed with his singing and persona but still won’t add.

Cher, I went for the day tickets too….

I’m on the Sonisphere site trying to get as much information as possible. Popped into the Forums to see what they were saying about Queen + Adam. Interesting comments! Most people are cautiously optimistic about Adam pulling it off, especially after seeing the EMA video that’s running on the site.

    Some examples:

When it was first rumoured that Queen would be playing, I didn’t know what to think. Some pop singer filling the boots of one of the greatest frontmen of all time is a massive ask.

But after watching that video, I am feeling a little positive about it all. The boy has certainly got some potential.

I have to admit this is one of the things I am looking forward to the most. I grew up on Queen and didnt ever think I would have the opportunity to see them live and get to stand in a field with thousands of people belting my heart out to them Smile Ive only recently heard of Adam but from what Ive seen of him, he can at least sing and looks like he can put on a good show. Its a brave man who stands
in Freddies shoes so full respect to him.

I wonder if the vibrato was on purpose, or iff he was just shitting himself; because it wasnt that noticeable during We are the champions.

Massive step up vocally from Rogers (for Queen I mean, Rogers is good but different) and he seems like a born performer

This could be really epic if Lambert pulls it off. A few drinks in a field singing along to Queen classics….actually it does sound rather frakking awesome. It’s always good to sing Queen when you are a little drunk.

    Really want to see this.

Not overly keen on how much vibrato he’s got going on but he can definitely sing. Will be an awesome sing along.

    http://www.sonisphereforums.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=11313

These are obviously not Adam fans or hard-core Queen fans – it’s more like they are Sonisphere fans. And Adam is opening some eyes and ears here.

I’ve been in Europe the past few days, sorry for the lack of updates to the numbers page. Sounds like the news isn’t good for BTIKM, that’s really too bad. It had a great video but it seems that the song just isn’t connecting for some reason.

Very exciting news about Sonisphere! As we discussed a while back, I’ll set up a restricted access (site members only, maybe password protected too) page here for folks to make detailed plans. I’m going to try and go, have to do some quick assessment when I get back home this afternoon.

  39. Northern Spirit says:

Forgot how much you all write here. I’m a page behind already Smile.

Cher, TLKC and I also have general admission access, but we do have Rock Royal Pass for the 3 dyas, so have access to the beer garden backstage. That should keep me happy. I’m thinking that I’ll wake up early tomorrow morning and get me a disability access pass, so I can remove myself from the crowd if it gets to be too much. When I saw the Rolling Stones in Toronto back in 2003, it was a huge crowd like this will be, and I sat in the accessiblity area, a raised platform just 50 m from stage, hard left. Couldn’t have asked for more.

oh, and I like your idea of getting some Depends. Too funny, (but may be a good idea Smile )

Thanks for pointing out the comment section at the Sonisphere site cwm, it was refreshing to see everybody being open to seeing Adam sing with Queen, and most being complimentary on/about??? the EMA performance.

Pet peeve of mine is embodied in the following comment, printed several fonts bigger than the other comments and in blue instead of black:
“I think that you all are in for the surprise of your lives when you hear Adam Lambert. He has the vocal range of Freddy and also the stage presence. He’s modest enough to state that he is NOT trying to be Freddy, but that he is paying a tribute. Even Brian and Roger have stated that “Freddie would be proud”. Adam fronting with Queen will be the highlight of the concert. He most definitely is NOT “some pop singer”. Can’t wait until all of you who are a bit cynical on this subject are totally blown away.”

This comment stood out due to its appearance, and the bigger font gives it a negative vibe. Freddy? And Freddie? ‘All of you who are a bit cynical’? I didn’t see one comment that warranted this.

Anyway, things like this would turn me off.

I need a life! Adam will be playing teh Apollo stage. Looked up a little mythology. Hmmm. Adam seems to have a few things in common with Apollo:

Apollo is the God of music, poetry, oracles, sun, medicine, light and knowledge

literally “born of a wolf”. Adam identifies with the wolf.

As god of the sun, the Romans referred to Apollo as Sol literally “sun” in Latin.
    ( Light love and Sauli)

As a protector and founder, Apollo had the epithets Alexicacus (literally “warding off evil”). Like the Eye of Horus tattoo to ward off the evil eye.

As god of music and arts, Apollo had the epithet Musagetes
( “Muse”). Adam loves his Muse.

As a god of archery, Apollo was known as Aphetor (“to let loose”). We all know Adam can let loose!
