A lot of people are mentioning the left/right hand but isn’t it just the mirror image, because the candle and plant are on the other side too.
If you look at the stills from the video on page 2 row 13 the first picture, you can see the plant on the left side of the mirror/window. when it appears that Adam has his pen in his left hand this plant is visible on the left of his image, so they are filming his image in the mirror.
There is a lot of symbolism but I don’t think that being ambidextrous is one of them. IMHO
There is some Illuminati speculation out there too.
I love puzzles, riskylady! I had thought that the choice of a pomegranate was interesting but didn’t take the thought farther than that…after I read your poste I just went over to wikipedia and it seems that the choice of the pomegranate was pretty clearly not random:

I wonder how much of this symbolism was instituted by Adam? He has a mystical bent and may well have been familiar with all of these things on his own.

I just watched the video without sound.
That makes it a little bit easier to concentrate on the peripherals (if anyone actually wants to do that, and not continue to lose themselves in Adam’s voice.)
It’s a somewhat different vid without sound and words to direct our attention.
The jerkiness of the dark frame makes me think of the old silent movies…ironic for a music video that is all about sound.
Y’know, this sort of reminds me of American Pie when it came out, or Macarthur Park. What does it all mean??!!

I’m not sure, but I think it may be important to start watching the video on VH1. It seems that they sometimes use the number of views as a way of determining fan interest for the top 20.

Unfortunately I can’t help add any numbers to the VH1 video, as as usual it won’t let me watch….
Watching the video again I noticed on the dark side the edge flickers, like in an old silent movie like Kradamour noted, while on the light side the edges are stable. Just another observation!
As dcglam mentioned it is important to watch the video on VH1 to see if they even will premier it on their top 20. Only “like” it once. I did it a second time and it subtracted a number! Even though it says Black Keys premier, the first song is BTIKM with this link.
Wouldn’t it be great if views worked into sales?

Watching the video on VH1 and hitting replay, the commercial in between has a couple “juicing”
It really annoys me on almost all of these sites that you can’t “like” something unless you have facebook or twitter. Why can’t these people realize there are still millions of people that do not do facebook.
Does anyone know when the video will be on VH1, do they announce when they start playing it or do we just have to watch. I can’t see me having VH1 on all day and night lol. I would love to see it on my TV screen.
As to the flickering screen for dark Adam, I just think it is because dark Adam is in light Adam’s head. So he is an image or a movie constantly playing trying to get him over to the dark side.
Or I could be totally wrong lol

Glambotgram….haven’t watched VH1 since IIHY was on! But at that time there was a segment called “Jump Start” which is early morning starting at 6am est. I think it is still on and here’s where they play the videos that might be premiering on the top 20 countdown. I remember seeing IIHY here so I’m pretty sure BTIKM will show up. Assuming it will make the top 20 soon, someone here will be posting this. I might just dvr Jump Start for tomorrow morning to see if BTIKM is on.

Have to say that I’m really liking the BTIKM video. I was a bit lukewarm to the song, itself, when I first heard it, and it continues to grow on me. The video is wonderful. So much thought was put into this, the symbolism, the message. I can watch it over and over again.

Yes, I think it is important to give Adam’s vid as many hits as possible. Like HK fan, I wasn’t able to view it either being “out of region”.
BUT, I have a Firefox Add-On that does enable me to be able to see it and contribute to the amount of views. It unblocks everything that one would otherwise not be able to see or read on hundreds of sites. It’s a great work-around that is listed among Firefox Add-On’s and is perfectly legal.

I made a playlist on youtube yesterday with BTIKM 10 times and then just let it play while I was on the computer. Bumping up those views. I have never made a playlist on you tube before, what is wrong with me.

Kradamour, congratulations on your TV. We also went out and bought a new one. We had one home and didn’t like the the picture and a few other things, exchanged it for another one which we are much happier with. This one is Internet connect able but the first one had wi-fi which would have been easier for this little older than 29 lady. I haven’t watched the video on the big screen yet and will do so after the Super Bowl. I’m one of those who just watches for the enjoyment, I’ll let others do the dissecting.

All of this and he doesn’t even have a college education! LOL. One of the things that bothered me in the video was the air canisters and the drop in oxygen. I’ve thought about it all morning, and the best I can come up with is someting I’ve said about my DH (dear husand).
My DH used to be a lot like Dark Adam years ago. He was negative, pessimstic, angry, frustrated, jealous, and self-destructive. He was my opposite. I’ve always been optimistic, positve, happy, and calm. But I was lacking too–I was afraid to speak my mind, afraid to assert myself. I used to say that anytime we went anywhere, my DH would suck the oxygen out of the room, meaning his inner “fire” got all of the attention from everyone else and on him.
But together we are whole. I calm him down, and give him hope that things will be all right with the world, and he gives me courage and strength to be who I really am. It’s worked for forty years. We are both better people because of our relationship.
Adam is a genius!

As to the left/right hand thing, well, I think it goes to left brain (reason, logic, math) controlling right hand, right brain (artistic creative side) controlling left hand. Not necessarily symbolism, just something to think about.
Then, since the air supply is shared, the fire on the dark side could consume the oxygen on the light side.
