2014 wraps up this month and what a year it has been. We did not get a new album but many of us got to see Adam and Queen perform live and will see them again in the UK and Europe. Adam still found time to record “Imagine” for UNICEF and starting December 1, also be part of “giveStars“ where all proceeds go to charity. Throw in a Classic Rock Award for Band of the Year and an appearance on the UK X Factor and I would say that it was a pretty good year for Adam and ALL his fans. December will probably be quieter as he prepares for the Winter 2015 Q+AL tour but we have plenty to keep us going until the tour starts. Here’s hoping that some news about the new album will be Adam’s year-end gift to us! He’s the gift that keeps on giving!! And speaking of gifts, how about spending NYE with Queen and Adam in London! What a way to ring in the New Year!!!

I think I like it. But the difference and lack of connection to the other tats is odd. And what about that “moon” around his upper left arm? Where’s that? Will look again.
Well, I’m not a tattoo person, but I actually kinda like it. I think it’s interesting. A little big for my tastes, but I find it pretty mesmerizing. I think he put a lot of thought into it.
And what does adamized think of the tattoo? “I like it!”
adamized and I are sitting here chatting at her kitchen table, after enjoying a delicious Thai dinner with mmm222. The dinner report: “happy” calamari (actually we thought it was more sanguine than happy), inebriated (drunken) noodles with beef, massaman chicken curry, and eggplant with veggies.
And chocolate when we got back to the house.
It’s been delightful visiting adamized and mmm222; they’re always such fun – we always end up in fits of giggles. What seems crazy is that the next time we’re going to see each other is in Poland! Can’t believe it.
Bare arms with freckles are sexier than tattooed ones.

Adam is such an original in so many respects. So I find it odd that he would want to display someone else’s “art” or creativity. I could understand it more if these were his original designs or had special meaning to him (like the Q and the OOFTA). As a fellow Aquarian, I simply do not understand the appeal of tattoos – I change my mind way too often to have anything permanently etched on my skin!! Thankfully my three kids have not gotten a single tattoo!

And I think we have not seen the last of them. To many people, tattoos are almost addictive, always thinking and planning the next one. Adam seems to fit that pattern, unfortunately.
Agree that he may be getting to the point that they become limiting to certain opportunities. Also agree that he is starting to get into Adam Levine territory. And that the arms don’t live well together…but I think that this arm will be getting more done to it.
Have to grudgingly admit that at least Adam seeks out really, really skilled artists.
No matter how skilled the artist, though, the tats will still sag and bleed and fade and look wretched eventually.
I sort of think that his mother is probably okay with it.
But WE aren’t, and that is what really matters.

Tattoos….Hm…..When I was a kid (a long time ago) they were part of a culture very different from mine, mostly seen on bikers or as mementos from Navy days. Certainly no one I knew ever had one (that I knew of, lol). But times have changed, they have gained in popularity with a much broader population, and they don’t carry with them the connotations that they used to. (I am remembering that my Canadian born mother didn’t get her ears pierced until she was in her 40s because when she was a girl pierced ears were a sign that someone was an immigrant. By the way, today is her birthday. She would have been 93!) I have come to appreciate the beauty of some of the tattoos that I have seen, including Adam’s. They have become another means of very personal self-expression for many people, Adam included. He waited a long time to get his first tattoo, and one thing is for sure, everything that he permanently puts on his body is very well thought out and meaningful for him, and I am sure that he has a lot of input into the design. He values himself too highly to do anything trite.
I was doing my ironing upstairs, watching an Elvis movie on my laptop (tv in the bedroom is broken!!), really peed off as only the first 5 parts were watchable, the last 5 said I couldn’t watch in my country…so now I don’t know how it ends….anyways, when moving to the next segment I saw some links for MDMS links..behind the scenes stuff that I hadn’t seen before…

Turquoise, thank you for that Mad World! With Monte and Longineu (can’t seem to get the spelling right…). In the beginning there seems to be a lot going on in the crowd and Adam seems to be having some trouble getting into it, but then of course the magic happens and the crowd gets the memo and Adam ends victorious!
The only Mad World that I don’t love is this one from NYE 2013 at Winstar. It is the closest I have ever seen to Adam phoning it in. But the video is gorgeous!

Regarding the new tattoo…I’m not a big fan of tattoos but can appreciate the artistry and thought behind some of them. I liked the contrast between Adam’s swirly arm and the almost bare freckled arm. I’m afraid that this new tattoo is just the beginning of a geometrically designed sleeve which isn’t as aesthetically pleasing to my eye. But at least Adam is seeking out very highly skilled tattoo artists and the designs are monochromatic. I see a lot of tattoos on all parts of the body in my line of work. The worst ones are the randomly placed cartoonish tattoos in garish colors. There’s no aesthetic value in those at all.
HKFan– I am really enjoying the links to your daughter’s movie. She is just adorable and seems perfect for the role. I hope the movie gets released in the US, if not in the theaters, at least on DVD. I would really like to see it. It is a very serious topic, and often a light approach is a good way to begin breaking down prejudices.
There is so much we don’t know about Adam, really. What his everyday is like, what he talks about with his friends, how he feels about world events, what disappointments he may experience or even grievances or hurts during his daily/nightly hours. We can only speculate.
I speculate that he loves art and fashion, and that tattoos to him are wearable art. I also believe each one has meaning to him, as he has explained some to us – the eye of Horus, the Key, the mythological head with horns, the infinity sign, the Garden of Eden (Adam, snake, apple), the Q with crown, the twin oofta with Sauli, the phrase on his left arm and the crescent moon. So probably this new one has meaning, and he’s into astrology, etc. and the kind of art he seems to like. We may or may not see more. Personally, I hope he never goes near face or neck, or even chest or back, but we see so little of him we may never even know lol.
And maybe this makes him more attractive to some guys. Like the facial hair. Again, we can only speculate. One thing is for sure: he takes care of his voice, so there’s that. And I do think he values his face, he has certainly improved his skin enormously. The hair…..well, that grows like a weed anyway.
Krad, I have to disagree with you about the NYE Mad World. I was there, and never thought he was phoning it in or even close. Videos don’t pick it up much, but the arrangement was really interesting and lovely and new, and gave it a different vibe, closer to the original. Sometimes, YouTube is the devil!

Sometimes I think of things in the past I used to be obsessed (strong word) with. Like astrology. Don’t believe any of it now. But time goes on and certain things I’ve been interested in fade away. Life changes and with it all that I thought to be part of me disappear and don’t seem important. With Adam, his beliefs certainly are strong and probably will last forever. But never say never…or “forever” for that matter.
