I am so happy that Adam decided to go to Finland to be with Sauli and his family during the holidays. It makes me all gushy inside to think of them together in Finland, with Adam doing the all-important meeting of the BF’s parents, family, and friends. I imagine that he had lots of butterflies in his stomach yesterday morning, as big events for both his career and his personal life were happening on the same day: the release of his single worldwide, and going to Sauli’s hometurf and meeting his parents, his family, and his friends, many of whom probably don’t speak English. That’s pressure!
The thing that surprised me about the Helsinki airport video was seeing Adam drive away in a taxi. Even if he was trying to travel igcognito (and I get why he thought he could), I still wish there had been someone there waiting to pick him up. Which makes me wonder if maybe it was a last-minute surprise??
Could someone give me the link for the i-tunes charts so that I can follow BTIKM’s meteoric rise myself. When I look for it, I just get something that doesn’t jive with anything I see here and doesn’t even have the song listed at all. Thanks
The last few days have brought home to me (again) the amazingly dedicated and interwoven nature of Adam’s international fanbase. We were all hanging on the tweets of a fan in China, who was translating Shanghai fans’ posts to a Chinese site for us. A Japanese fan helps with translating the Japanese messages from inside the Amway event. A Shanghai ninja detects Adam’s early departure for a flight to Finland, word spreads, some Finnish fans pick up the word, and they and some Finnish media are waiting for him at the Helsinki airport. And now, fans all over the world are buying the single as it is released simultaneously in apparently dozens of different countries, and everyone celebrates together as we watch the single rise in itunes around the globe. Talk about international relations!!
And all the while, Adam’s just doing his thing, moving through life being his wonderful self, while waves of excitement roll around the globe with his every move. Amazing, really.
Awww, what a sweetheart. Love him! And I’m SO happy for him, too.

Parcels and mail are slow to get and they get censored and confiscated here. If I need to send documents out by DHL it’s really expensive.
I used to have UPO Box when I was with Boeing and McDonnell Douglas. Not anymore. But no Adam back then.
I never heard about singles or digital dl before Adam.
If I’m in the States I try to get all cds and dvds that I want. Here I go to Bahrain to buy CDs and DVDs. They are a few months or a year late and pricey. But before Adam we were all patient, right?
History: I pre-ordered FYE from Amazon to the US address and got them in Nov. because I went there for Thanksgiving, x-mas, and DD’s graduation. And then bought tons of FYE from Best Buy, Walmart, and Target. Lucky year!!!
I Ordered 4 copies of GNL DVD/CD through Barnes and Noble because of the good deal. I was a GNL/DVD virgin until July. But it’s worthy!!!
I’m going to pre order TRESPASSING from Amazon; but won’t get it until July. In the meantime I’ll just listen and watch it from youtube.

cwm: I love the picture you conjure up of international togetherness through communication and collaberative support for Adam across many miles and languages and cultures. I didn’t know about the Japanese fan translations but that’s just wonderful.
I remember there was some feisty talk about different countries when Adam was in Malaysia but respect won out and we all walked away a little wiser and closer to each other. Adam is as big a promoter of love and understanding as any United Nations Ambassador.

I post here pretty much every day. Always try to sneak a couple in from work. Yup, my ride home from Toronto was an adventure. Car situation…will tell you some time. What do you think of Adam’s song? If you read back a little here my posts pretty much tell it all. I’m very slowly starting to like it. Very slowly. I only hope it’s a huge hit for Adam although read eywflyer’s post a couple pages back and I agree with everything he said.
BTW…just bought it on itunes! Wonder what spot it’s at now. I didn’t notice it on the banner, though.
Aw..a nice evening in Helsinki with Sauli (hate his hair these days). Maybe they are planning to go to someplace warm. Probably not, though because Sauli wants to spend Christmas with his family. Probably just making plans for the return back to LA after the holidays (or to Sauli’s hometown as cwm said.)
Sauli is from Hyvinkaa, Finland…only about 47miles from Helskini. Doubt if they’d fly.
Ok, here’s my story. Adam arrives in Helsinki, takes a cab to a hotel where he meets Sauli who may have been dropped off by someone. They spend the evening and day in Helsinki, now back at the airport setting up flights for their return home to LA. Yes, luval…get a life!

There’s a rumor that Sauli might take Adam to Lapland – for snow, scenery, Finnish culture, etc. Would be a domestic flight. Lots of “lap” jokes going around, of course. First, he “touches” us (WE ALL WISH), then hubby asks me, “Do they have a national ‘dance’ in ‘lap’land?”
I’m still loving this song, the more I listen, and fortunately, so are a lot of others. Looks like RCA is planning the main promo/radio adds/etc. to begin in January, plus someone in UK has something afoot (the guy from a music/dance show). Going to be a busy first quarter!!!
I’m hoping for a NYE performance somewhere, too.

I have been thinking all Day that “he went to meet Sauli at a hotel in Helsinki” but I couldn’t post from work. And Sauli looks like he is in a hotel bathrobe ummmm waiting.
Ok I downloaded before work this morning and have had BTIKM on repeat as much as possible today. It didn’t hit me instantly like some of his other songs. I do like it and have noticed today when it wasn’t playing it was running through my head. I can’t say I love it yet, or that it moves me like OOL, but I do like it.
Someone earlier mentioned phrasing and I think some it doesn’t flow well, like when he says “yeah that’s the truth” it just kinda sticks out there to me.

Hi glambotgram…I agree about the odd phrasing here and there. The part that bugs me is when he says “coz if I wanted to go, etc..” “coz” to me makes it too wordy. Just like the title!

Numbers show that his fanbase is alive and well, did not deteriorate in 2.5 years, to contrary it grew stronger. Someone on MJ said that label is looking at this results and estimates how much money to designate for promo.

I’ve been following Toby Knapp’s show this evening here in DC. His show is very much pop centered showcasing Katy, Bruno, Britney, Rihanna, Jessie, Adele, and Gaga.
No Bieber, which is interesting to me. I suppose we don’t expect to hear Adam on the radio now until the end of January.
Of course, the big add today was Lady Gaga’s Marry the Night. I have to say that I am a big Gaga fan. I love her and her music. However, her songs are beginning to all sound alike. To me, Marry the Night sounds so much like Edge of Glory.

Oksana – I’m pretty sure that was WWFM reaching #10 on the Billboard Hot 100 list right after his AI performance, not itunes.
luval – I think people are generally seeing his sales level as a pretty good thing, given that no real promo can happen right now to push the song (radio push, performances, etc.). I agree that I’d like to see it at the top of the itunes list, but I feel pretty good that it’s selling reasonably well just on the basis of Adam’s established fanbase. This means that his buying fanbase has remained pretty well intact since the FYE album era. The top 10-20 is likely hard to break into.
I don’t know how high WWFM and IIHY got on itunes, but folks at MJs checked the archives and said that FYE (song) peaked at #26 and TFM at #10 (both of these were songs released before the FYE album).
cwm, I remember speculating that week about his sales, and I remembered that being in Top 10 on iTunes equals 100,000 in sales, and that was what he sold. I don’t recall hitting #1. Since MJ changed format of her blog, histrical research is real pain in the ass, so I won’t go back looking for the sales thread.

I still haven’t even tried to buy the single yet. I asked my 17 year old how to legally down music in HK, he doesn’t know, has never done it. I’m a bit worried I’ll be like asif and not be able to do it here. The good thing is I can easily buy the physical album in HMV when its released.
One question, if I can preorder the album off Amazon, do they post it out on the day its officially released, or send it out earlier so you receive it the day it should be released??
