After a very eventful past month for Adam and his fans, December has arrived. Adam enjoyed quite a bit of publicity during November, including an epic performance with Queen at the EMAs, a Rolling Stone interview, a mentoring appearance on Majors & Minors, and his return to the AMA stage (unfortunately only as a presenter this time around). Still no new music for us to enjoy with our holiday feasts, but all the signs currently point to the lead single from Adam’s new album being released in January.

Update 7 PM 12/14: as per Adam’s tweets today, “Better Than I Know Myself”, the lead single from his new album “Trespassing”, will be released on Tuesday, December 20th!

Enjoy the chat during this last month of 2011!

Home Planet has picks of Tommy and Isaac at the airport. No Monte or Cam. Not that we’re expecting Monte. Maybe that Ashley chick is there but nobody knows yet who she is. I think I read that Cam can’t be there, prior commitment.

    Glad she didn’t like Liberace

Ron. too funny. Liberace is from my hometown. I grew up listening to a lot of him. Oh well. I hear they are making a movie of his life. I can’t remember who’s playing him or his partner, but, they are big stars.

It’s not like he was changing into his briefs or something.

You’re skating on thin ice again, mils, watch it. Grin

  4. milwlovesadam says:

OK. So, it’s Michael Douglas and Matt Damon. With Marvin Hamlisch doing music, for HBO. Should be good.

  5. Ron says:

Michael Douglas as Liberace? Have to think about that one.

Marvin Hamlisch … one of THE best.

    I’ll be watching.

  6. milwlovesadam says:

Michael Douglas played a gay cop in an episode of Will and Grace, he was soooo funny and believable.

  7. milwlovesadam says:

Yes Ron, Hamlisch is One Singular Sensation!

  8. Hi all,

Sorry to have only posted once here before but I find the site a bit difficult to figure out. I am always looking for a forums button after I log in and then I get completely lost.

I’m a pretty die-hard Adam fan. I started a Toronto fan group on Yahoo a long while ago that’s still up a running.

I’ve been looking forward to the new single for a long while. I’m not one of these people that is just going to like something because I like the singer/actor/writer etc. in general. I’ve had friends who are musicians who prefer I be brutally honest with them rather than say “I love it” if I really don’t. They’ve told me they need to know these things. BTIKM just doesn’t do anything for me but I don’t dislike the song either.

As I mentioned to Ron earlier, I feel like I should be walking out of a movie theatre seeing movie credits rolling as I hear BTIKM. It just feels like a end of movie credits song, nothing outstanding It’s not something I would listen to or buy if I didn’t know the singer, which is a great cause of concern for me because I want his fandom to grow in size.

I have a huge concern in that I don’t think this is going to be the song to draw in a lot of new fans but I have high hopes that I will like other songs on the new CD.

You are very lucky here in that you seem to be able to express your opinions like people are able to do on other fan sites (Depeche Mode, Duran Duran etc.)and people are ok to express themselves and discuss like adults.

I’ve run into the odd problem of having people bounce all over me for not being blown away by BTIKM and meanwhile, more people are privately emailing me to say they feel the same, they don’t love it but are afraid to say anything publicly for fear or retaliation or even loosing friends.

Adam is all about freedom of expression, being yourself and to put an end to bullying etc. but boy, oh boy, express your feelings about a song and the wrath of this fandom can be brutal.

I hope we don’t have to wait to long for the next single to be released.

    Dear GlamazonToronto

    Welcome back!

I feel the same way about a lot of your concerns.

And you know privately that I kind of have crush on you so you can say anthing you want and I’ll love it anyway. Laugh

  11. Kradamour says:

    Welcome, GlamazonToronto!
You found the right place for thoughtful, caring posts about a performer we are all nuts about for varying reasons. Hope you will stay!

Agree that it sounded like credits music to me. On the optimistic side, perhaps it will be used over movie credits. There is precedent for that in Adam’s career! Smile

I also hope that the next single will be released VERY soon, and that it is totally different from WWFM and this. Would love to have TWO Adam songs in play simultaneously, the better to attract new fans and to demonstrate his versatility.

  12. milwlovesadam says:

kradamour, I have a feeling they will release two or three songs before the CD comes out, just like they did with Gaga, Brittany, Rihanna, etc.

  13. riskylady says:

Just listened to the VEVO full song for the first time. And, finished reading all FOUR pages of new posts here since yesterday morning I believe.

Well, reading your posts jarred my memory of the first time I heard WWFM. I thought it was a strange song. But the more I listened, the more it grew on me, plus we’ve had so many versions: the fast one, the wonderful Moscow rock one, and then the acoustic version to me is one of the most beautiful, tender, naked versions of Adam’s voice that we have.

So, I think this song is a HUGE change in everything we have heard from Adam up to now. Extremely modern and no long, legato phrases ending with his glorious vibrato that we are used to. It takes some getting used to lol.

But, went back and listened a few more times, and it is growing on me. The VEVO version has excellent sound, and just in the few minutes between my first and second visits, the LIKES grew from 527 to 683, with only 5 dislikes. I don’t think people are afraid to press a LIKE button – who’s going to know?

The number of listens on AO is growing quickly too, from about 5k a while ago to over 16k. Most comments are favorable.

DJs, both US and int’l, seem to love it so hopefully they will play it. And the younger fans hopefully will like it too. If it’s a big hit for Adam, then GREAT.

We have a whole album coming up of the usual eclectic music Adam likes to serve us – some funk, some electronica, some ballads I hope. I think we’ll survive and thrive.
He wouldn’t do this if a) he didn’t love it and b) he didn’t think it was good for business.

Interesting, ,mils. Do you think “Outlaws of Love” will be one of them?

  15. Aww, Ron *hugs*

    Thank Kradamour.

OWNERS AND MODERATORS OF THIS SITE –

I didn’t realize the chat here isn’t private. Anyone looking at this site can see our posts. Is it supposed to be like that? Most places make you become a member and make you login to see what people have to say.

I have a real concern about his because I run some other, non-Adam, fan sites and I have to tell you, it is NOT uncommon for people writing articles, sometimes even major newspapers, to steal things off fan sites.

I’ve had people in one of my Sci Fi fan sites become extremely upset when a major newpaper actually directly quoted fans from their posts i.e. “Fan on the website ___ had the following to say about the film ….” Because it was out in the open, they seemed to have a right to take it and use it and it wasn’t to the advantage of what we were fans of. It was in fact, to it’s detrement (did I spell that correctly?)

I would never tell anyone how to run their site, but it’s something serious to think about.

    Cheers!

  16. milwlovesadam says:

I really don’t think he should release Outlaws as a single. It’s so sleepy. Unless he really did something spectacular with it on the album. Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s beautiful, but, it’s not for radio.

Unless it ends up like Someone Like You from Adele. It’s all voice. Just her and a piano. Like we haven’t heard Adam since his Upright New Year’s show. Or Mad World on Regis.

Maybe since Adele has laid the groundwork, just maybe, Outlaws could play. We’ll see.

I feel confident that Adam and his team know a great deal more about selling music to the public than most of us do. I have faith in this decision of theirs. I also agree that another single will most likely surface before the CD. After all, there will be an entire three month interim!

  19. Hey, riskylady

This link you gave, the sound IS different.

I’m actually in a little bit of shock right now. I still think it sounds like a song to movie credits, but I have to say, I liked it A LOT more than what I heard on the AO site and my heart actually skipped a beat a bit and I started to sway to it.

Perhaps the AO sample isn’t doing it justice. I wonder which is the actual way it’s going to sound.

I’m feeling a tad better now, thank you! Big Smile

    Hey, riskylady

That clip is SO much better, thank you! It doesn’t sound to me now like a lot of noise during the chorus with anyone singing. That’s ADAM!

  21. JOJOSIE says:

Riskylady, you said about what I was thinking. Adam is aproaching his 30th birthday and wants to be a pop star. He’s going for what’s current. It’s got beat and an almost urban feel. He wants to keep his fans but he also needs new ones and younger ones. I’m sure there will be a ballad or two and maybe some rock. But the Glam is leaving and new more pop Adam is appearing. It’s not a bad thing IMO. Big Smile

  31. cwm says:

I came to the conclusion a long time ago that there is no shortage of opinions when it comes to Adam. And that no song of his is ever going to please all of his fans AND attract new fans because his fanbase is so diverse with respect to age and musical tastes, and his current fanbase doesn’t necessarily reflect his future potential fanbase. So I can live with a variety of opinions about the song, and I’m confident that we’ll all find songs that we love on Trespassing.

    For me? I love BTIKM!

Adam’s vocals are amazing, and I love the juxtaposition of his powerful, emotional vocal line with the heartbeat drum in the background. I continue to feel compelled to press repeat, and the song has now stuck itself into a happy place in my head. Big Smile

Yes, I suppose that this is a somewhat “safe” choice. But it’s a great choice because it builds on Adam’s previous radio success and takes it a step further. Future singles will then take further risks.

And I’ll put money on it — we are all going to need to fasten our seatbelts when Adam sings this live, because it is going to be in.cred.i.ble. He is going to absolutely slay this song live.

And another plus: this song also will lend itself very well to a variety of live arrangements – plugged in and acoustic – that Adam will be doing during the promo period. I can’t wait to hear these performances!!

Hi guys, sorry I’ve been absent all day, am traveling this weekend and have limited site access only thru my phone. Still haven’t listened to BTIKM, and won’t until I download the single Tuesday as I want to experience it the first time with headphones and high quality audio. Apparently some of these prelim versions floating around don’t sound as good as they might.

Glamazon, I hear your concern about the chat here being publicly viewable, but I’m reluctant to close it as we will have a hard time attracting new site members that way. This is a pretty small group at present – on average around 50 people post in a given month. I’m perfectly happy with that – but I do want to see new people slowly find their way here especially during the next tour. There is a members only Glambert & Recap thread available too.

I’m happy to see the conversation here remain calm and friendly as it always does, even when we have a wide variety of opinions.

I’ll try to keep an eye on things as much as I can this weekend – if anyone has any concerns or questions please use the contact the site admins link. Those emails are forwarded to my phone immediately.

    Good night!

This is apparently the “new Lane,” who our informant describes and a “nice guy” and very professional and nice when dealing with the fans:

According to glam_alidol’s tweet, the body guard’s name is David, and the new “Lane ” is Jeremy.

  36. riskylady says:

You’re so right, Jojosie, about the urban feel. I think it’s the first I’ve heard from him.
I’m pretty sure the VEVO is a legit good copy, because it’s VEVO. They must have had a good source.
Because, I agree with you all, that one really GOT me. And I so agree with cwm – he is going to KILL IT live!
Gotta admire him, his INSTINCTS got him through Idol. NOW I understand that tweet of Eber’s, remember, when he told Adam to stick to his guns. And, NOW I understand what Claude Kelly said about his voice, and the description from that guy Lansky (sp).
I am so happy right now…brb, going to flail all over the family room.

Hey everyone, how are you all? Have not posted in a while as real life doesn’t allow it, but I do check in all the time to see whats going on.

Today I just had to make time to comment on the new single. I have read lots of positive comments, and some (a minority) that say its more “generic pop” and Adam can do more than this. In my opinion, Adam has so much diversity that he could never please everyone. But this diversity is also why he is loved by so many. Just that voice alone makes any song he sings so much better than any other singer’s could. Fast/slow/rock/pop its all good to me so far. I am intrigued by what is coming next, but for now I love this single. We have waited so long for it, that now is the time to enjoy it all. The more I hear it, the more I love it. As we have got better quality versions of this song, I hear even more within the song that I love. I hope this it a hit for him, as he is more deserving of being a music icon than any other singer I have heard. I am dying to hear this being sung live, as he is going to kill it! I am sure every version will be that little bit different and all amazing.

So excited now for what is to come, and can’t wait to get to a live show to hear this with others who appreciate this man’s amazing gift. Enjoy everyone! I’ve got it repeating. If this did not blow you away, then there will definitely be something on Trespassing that will, as Adam does not disappoint.

  40. loveroftalent says:

  43. cwm says:

One more post and then this post-ho better sign off…

Thanks eywflyer for putting together the top 16 list! That was fun! I got 12 matches out of the 17 on the list, for a 71% hit rate. Smile

The ones on my personal list that didn’t make the group’s top 16 were Broken Open (FYE), Pick U Up (FYE), WLL (Louisville), Soaked (acoustic live – Osaka (or really anywhere!), and Tracks of My Tears (AI Live).

It occurs to me that the performances that made our lists are the singular performances that stand alone or somehow stand out. Adam sang his butt off on Soaked, Ring of Fire, Aftermath, etc. throughout the GNT, but none of those performances made our list, because they were always sung uniformly well and he never really changed them up or varied them much, so no one particular performance really stands out because they were all great. But when he sang Ring Of Fire on AI, that was the only one (and first) of its kind so it stands out. Just an observation that was interesting to me about what captures our attention.

  44. luval says:

    Good morning everyone.

Was out last night so just catching up on the posts. Again thanks Ron & Kradamour for the AO site link. Turns out it was the Safari browser on my iphone that wouldn’t load.

Have to admit BTIKM is starting to grow on me. There are a couple of lines that still don’t make sense to me musicality-wise. If someone could tell me what the bridge is or even the chorus (think I know), I could pin it down. That Vevo link is so much better. I have a feeling that’s the exact one we are going to hear on Tuesday.

That poster picture for China looks so much like the one in Ste. Agathe. Same photo. It was plastered on billboards all over town. Unforgettable.

Love the China airport videos. Wish Adam would get the same reaction at U.S. airports!!!!!

And my dream would me for Adam to sing BTIKM on X-factor finale with a surprise of Queen and Adam singing The Show Must Go On!!! Except that performance would surely take away from the the single.

  45. Kradamour says:

    Good morning!
Oddly enough, it was the piano solo link above that made me like BTIKM better. Got the melody without all the STUFF that obscured it…maybe this should be a prerequisite to listening to Adam’s version lol!
So I listened to the VEVO version – definitely better, and if this is what the actual single will sound like, it sounds a LOT more radio-friendly.
I actually really enjoy pop music – yes, even Britney! – and that is what concerned me about my lack of love for BTIKM. I don’t like rock, have a short attention span for ballads, I really thought that I would love what Adam put out for radio this time. And I didn’t. At all. Didn’t even make it to the end the first time I listened, I was bored.
I still think it is too long, but the VEVO version reassured me (not that anyone cares lol) that it has a good shot at radio success. Kinda catchy, kinda whiney like a teen ballad, kinda urban but not so much that people go WTF he’s a middle class white guy. After a couple of listens you can sing along to the parts you like. And the lyrics respect the fact that Adam is a little bit long in the tooth, he can’t sing about teenage dreams.

Gotta say this is a good example of why music companies just need to release the music when peeps are clamoring for it (assuming that it is completed) so that inferior versions don’t become the first listen. Thinking

  46. luval says:

Hi Kradamour….For me too!…the piano link. So beautiful. I’m waiting for an acoustic guitar solo on youtube because I know a couple of guitar players who I think could do it justice. I always have to send them youtubes to show that “yes”, you can play an Adam Lambert song acoustic.

Read on AQD that some of the Chinese glamberts are staking out spots outside the Amway venue to maybe get a listen of Adam. Also he went to an exclusive suit store and had a suit made.

And from ADQ for those who don’t subscribe, here’s a cute pic outside the suit shop. Love that parka!!!
