Thank you, HK

I hope you’re heart is not heavy during this time as your young one ventures into this new phase of life. Sounds like you’ve done (and are doing) an outstanding job being their Mom.
We’re here to lift your spirits!
Aww, asif
Thank you!

Amaaaazing post, smalls! You nailed it!! A literary selfie, indeed. And so beautifully articulated! Adam really has re-awakened our joy and zest for life.

OMG those riders! It feels like someone got their hands on the Holy Grail!
I am so amused that Brian wants all kinds of pure and healthy foods and drinks, Roger wants all kinds of booze & a little fruit, and Adam wants 5-hr energy drinks, vodka, veggies, and Cliff bars. That just cracks me up because it’s such a reflection of their personalities.
And NO PEPSI! NO DESANI! NO HUMMUS OR GREEK APPETIZERS! lol
I’m heading to Brian’s room for the after party, to be honest. He’s got lots of good stuff there!
So what would you all have on your riders?
Me: Chips/salsa/guacamole, hummus/pita chips, Green & Black 70% chocolate bars, tahini almonds, fruit, veggies, jalapeno- and garlic-stuffed green olives, good red wines, craft beers, still water, fruit juice… and oh yes, some Cliff Bars. And oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and snickerdoodles.
Oofta, now I’m hungry.
Hi Axxxel
Just wanted to “meet” you & let you know that and I enjoy your posts and contributions about our guy, and sharing these concerts with you!
And, BTW, I think your avi is awesome. Music notes…
I just have two questions:
What is a chocolate digestive?
What is still water?
mils – Still water is just non-carbonated water.
Don’t know what a chocolate digestive is. Some kind of high-fiber cookie? LOL
cwm! Thank you so much.

I’m happy you understand and relate to it.
And I think risky coined a great new phrase with “literary selfie”. Perfect. lol
Love those riders. They tell so much about the people.
I volunteer to cut Adam’s veggies into small bite size pieces.
Adam’s needs are so simple. Water, veggies, tea, Cliff Bars, and vodka and Red Bull.
To be honest, they are all fairly simple, healthy and clean. Lots of booze, I’m thinking for after parties, however, a shot or two pre-show does make them loosey goosey!!
Umm… My thought was Ex lax? lol
I like the cookie idea much better. ;D
My rider: chocolate mint cliff bars, coconut water, bottled water, 60% dark chocolate, dunkin donuts coffee (decaf, cream & sugar),almonds, walnuts, a plate of good cheese/veggies/fruit.

Ok, YUM.
I think I would also have to throw in a donut or two since Dunkin’ is involved.
smalls, your selfie was wonderful. Please know that I found it revealing, we haven’t had someone spew out their feelings in a while like that. I feel like I did so much of that early on in our fandom of over 5 years now.
It’s kinda refreshing to see someone do that now. Adam has a way of evoking feelings and thoughts in us. I know that the blog you posted has similarities to me as well.
HK, I will also be an empty nester in a few days. I went through this two years ago, and had one kid home again for a year, so, I had a break, but, here I go again. Wednesday is EN-Day for me.
I’ll just bury myself in the voice, and all will be well.
You’ll be fine. It will be hard at first, but, you will find yourself enjoying life from a new perspective in time.
I prefer still water too.

How caring & noble of you, mils…
While you’re doing the cutting I will serve by helping him into his Hugo Boss robe. … Gotta have his comfort to dine.
What’s with the hummus hate? Hunh? Brian May?
I loove me some good hummus. Trader Joe’s makes one with cilantro and jalapeno that is a staple at my house, when not eating my homemade ones.
Oh. Maybe he needs to try Beano. LOL.
Hey, easy there smalls! those riders have nothing to do with clothing assistance.
Those jobs were assigned long ago.
Since you are new here, I’m sure many of us could refer you to some old lists. They were for Glamnation and a
fantasytrip to Wembley. We have had other job lists from time to time, some quite simple, some rather lurid.
Ahem. It seems like my corner partners, nkd, asif, glambot, and myself, seemed to have the “best” jobs.
***stamps feet ** Oh OK. I guess you can be a Bathrobe Donner.
As long as I get to get him ready for the robe.
Muhahahahaa!!
mils, yeah I know I was spillin’ my guts.
Good to know it’s refreshing, not gagging.
(But, both would make sense too. lol)
. . . Thank you

no no on my rider: anything with cilantro (sorry, mils…hate it!), no sodas of any kind.
Suddenly I feel inspired to suggest job rotation.
(forgot about the readying robe phase. hee hee )
However, ‘OK’, you called it.
(It’s only right as I do plan to retain my other position as ‘quality control’
for Adam’s wardrobe changes.)
Now then. How do I sign up for that job list?
Thanks smalls…
spoke to hubby yesterday. Says its great, and that he (son) is going to love the football side of things…but he said it is sooooooo different to HK, like chalk and cheese, so think he may have a bit of a culture shock!!!
cwm and mils….
if you don’t know what chocolate digestives are, I guess they are an English thing….(although readily available over here)
one of the most popular type of biscuits, (not my favourite), but good for dunking in your tea…….can be covered in chocolate (normally milk), sometimes dark, sometimes with a layer of caramel between biscuit and chocolate…
eta or what wiki said
although I have never seen white chocolate, or mint or orange ones.
still water is my main drink of the day…..although I love coke (try and limit it to one or 2 a day), but I don’t drink coffee or tea, so that offsets the caffeine!. But i really don’t like fizzy water….tastes like drinking soluble aspirins…..
mmmmmm, my rider, water, coke, pineapple juice, bananas, strawberries, salmon sushi, UK galaxy chocolate, seaweed rice crackers, cream cheese with sweet chilli sauce!
We always have a stock of various digestives when traveling in the UK, plus ginger biscuits, six-packs of lime-and-lager, lemon shandy, and assorted cheeses, for our evening meal once settled in at a B&B. To me they taste like a cross between graham crackers and Scottish shortbread, just lightly sweet but great with cheeses.
HK, yummm… Love salmon sushi. *slurp*
And I’ll take hummus and pita chips, too. Trader Joes rocks with pretty much everything they have out, so you can’t go wrong.
For breakfast (also on my Rider)…
I’ll take spinach quiche, fresh mixed fruit (incl. bluberries, mango, pineapple, strawberries, melons, kiwi) and a buttery, flaky croissant. Earl Grey tea, of course.
(Make it so.)
smalls, you seem to have just made a Picard reference.
Oh, I knew I liked you!
BTW. I have a feeling we may be in a similar profession.
(( From the way you were talking about voice and vocal nodules a few pages ago…what’s your ASHA #???))
smalls, thank you for your wonderful post. I love all of you that write so eloquently.
cwm, I’ll be snacking in your room, but will bring some white wine and macadamias!
nkd, I’ll bring the mango salsa.
luval…….So sorry, but I don’t know what Famous Amos cookies are? I’m sure though, that if they’re sweet, then I’ll like them
Thank you very much, nkd

mils, yummy!
ETA I miss our coffee dates! We only had 2, but I miss it! Miss you!
The NO PEPSI and NO DESANI on the riders cracked me up! My household agrees. LOL!!
mils, Lol. Yup, Picard it was.
Jean-Luc and I share the love for Earl Grey.
Your profession… in all seriousness – very cool!
I truly admire what you do. Mega kudos.
(somewhat assuming I know specifically what you do, but I admire all the positions in that field and it’s contributions in helping & educating people.)
My experience with vocals, nodules, etc. is actually related to my years in music and performance as a singer and from vocal training. (alas, back in the day. Seems like many moons ago now)
You know, it’s primarily due to ASHA affiliated professionals and orgs that singers learn and even know how to speak and sing properly… so many “thank you’s”!
angelowal… Famous Amos are some of the most delicious little cookies ever!
I used to make a steady snacking diet of them in college.
(when just breathing burned off the calories).
Still luv ‘um today. Chocolate chip/Pecan.
Haha, luval, mils & cwm, I had a box of chocolate digestive biscuits in our hospitality suite for Toronto 1 – they’re called digestive biscuits because they’re made with whole wheat fibre(bran) then coated on one side with chocolate – we call it sweetmeal; perfect for dunking in a cup of hot, sweet tea
.
In all perfect humility, I can claim the title of Connoisseur of (mostly British) quality chocolate, sweets, biscuits, cookies and cakes; just ask anyone who knows me, LOL………or catch a glimpse of the width of my tush
!
Hay! Ain’t nun of you forget that I writ eloquently two, you no!!
Hi smalls!
You so eloquently put into words what we’ve all felt, and will always feel, about Adam.
I think that your post should be bronzed and hung as a plaque on the gate of this little sandbox that we all like to play in.
Hi angelowal
Have you shared your story about the recording one of our friends made sitting next to you at one of the concerts, when someone threw panties/briefs on stage, and what you said?
Awww, goodness Ron… hello back, and a very big “Thank you”.
Feels great to have this wonderful little place to share it … and with a wonderful young man like You.

Ron, whatever do you mean?
I was simply stating the obvious when I called out, “Too small” in a rather louder-than-necessary voice as Adam caught a pair of men’s animal print thongs while on-stage at Toronto 2 – needless to say, there it is , loud and clear on someone’s video recorder
.
Ron, your eloquence is never overlooked!
Oh, angelowal… lolololol….
That’s Priceless!!

I heartily agree.
made such a mess of the last post decided to delete….
was a plea to angelowal to spill the pants story, but she already did
Now we’ve had the digestive lesson, can anyone explain what desani is??
Dasani is an American brand of bottled water, HK.
It’s kinda a “lower-grade” of bottled waters, if you will. Not regarded as ‘pure’ as it’s Swiss/European counterparts, nor as premium mountain or spring water.
(Although it’s not too big of a deal to as me I do grab it and drink it sometimes in a pinch. Like it better than Aquafina, which also is a bottled water and, to me, doesn’t taste as good.)
Dasani is a brand of purified drinking water. It is bottled by the Coca Cola Co. I believe.
It’s just not good.
HK, I can do that! Dasani is a bottled still water produced through reverse osmosis by CocaCola. I actually like it because it has had all particulate, minerals etc. removed and is just pure, clean, tasteless water.
I have a reverse osmosis system in my kitchen and it makes the clearest tea and most pleasant tasting coffee, not to mention using it in my iron for scuz-free steam.
Dear angelowal
You realize that your toe is on the line and that this is corner worthy, right?
I’ve met all of the “corner people” and you’ll be in great company!
Oh! You know them too! Of course! That’s right.
So it will be more like a family reunion.
