Listened to the Brian May interview again. The DJ asks him if there are any guitar players he hears out there today that he’s really excited about. Brian stumbles a bit and I can see why. There are absolutely NONE that I can think of in any band currently playing. Can’t even think of a band for that matter. lol! And Brian couldn’t think of any either!

I actually saw Lindsey in concert here in Norfolk a couple of weeks ago – it was sold out, as many of her concerts are.
Adamized and I saw her in concert in DC a couple of years ago (and had a meet and greet) on the same night as Adam’s concert for Maryland marriage equality, it was a wretched choice to have to make…we had the tickets for Lindsey, then Adam’s concert was announced, we had both seen Adam quite a few times recent to that, and decided not to change. The concerts were literally down the street from each other! Adamized was very ill that night, so it was probably also better to sit in the club for Lindsey than to stand and squee for Adam…sweet dcglam sent me her poster from the evening, I treasure it as a Marylander.

TLKC, thank you for sweet comment about us “sistas”! That was from a long time ago, there was some online quiz to find your rockstar name and asif and I came up with pretty much the same name and became rock star name sisters…hence sistasif and sistakrads to each other.
Peeps, we have so much common history…as we bring smalls into the fold, it has been so much fun to see the references to all of the things that we have laughed about and researched and experienced together…and the really beautiful thing is that we always find a way to share our own personal experiences in such a way that those experiences become a part of everyone’s reality.
Recaps, photos, videos…we are so generous! I was only able to go to one QAL concert, but I honestly feel as though I attended a dozen of them, thanks to the stories and recaps shared by our fellow ALL-ers.
I think that is part of what is behind our many, many tangible gifts to each other – the wonderful hamsa from rs being the most recent that I have experienced – we spread around all sorts of little tokens of affection and shared love for Adam and by extension for each other.

Hey guys, don’t mean to burst yer bubbles, but there a LOT of great guitarists out there: Clapton, Buddy Guy, BB King, John Mayer, Gary Clark Jr, Prince, Frampton, Slash, Buckingham, to name a few.
Brian May is iconic and legendary, but so are these guys. To me, blues guitarists rule. Especially slide players.
I just loved Brian’s solos, and being up close to see him play was sweet.
I have also been front row center for BB King, Buddy Guy, Frampton, Derek Trucks ( wowza ), and Buckingham. Once, I saw John Mayer join BB King from another stage on the same festival grounds. Talk about blues guitar heaven.
There’s just something about hearing a guitar sing that makes my soul happy.
Now, if I could see Prince or Lenny Kravitz live, my bucket list would be complete.

Oh MAN… the moment he won me over! For SURE his version.
Still gives me chills.
One more thing, this morning while listening to Elvis Duran and driving to work, he had Chris Martin in his studio interviewing and singing, and I really liked him , more than I expected. I knew his music, but he was funny too. Anyway, afterward, the DJ’s were all dishing about who they would have performing next, and Elvis said “Oh, that Lambert.”
My heart skipped a beat and I nearly choked on my smoothie.
Then. He said “Adam Lambert, no, Mary Lambert.”
Dammit. Wrong Lambert. But loved that Elvis has Adam’s name first on his lips.
smalls, that little flick of his finger raising his shirt just enough to raise our temperatures, it was the “hottest” thing ever seen on Idol. I know it was rehearsed, I know he put that in there, but, crikey, it was damn effective.
Every single true Glambert recalls that exact moment.
Ring of Fire was the single most gutsy, most balls to the wall act of courage ever on Idol. Adam risked so much, and I just know that Michael Orland fought for him. I think he’s said so in interviews.
Whatever went on behind the scenes, when Paula compared it to Kashmir, my heart just soared. I adore Kashmir, love it so much, Zep at it’s best. And judging by Adam’s smile and smirk, he looooved the Kashmir connection.

In fact, in addition to some other names you mentioned, BB King, Slash & Prince are certainly gross oversights on my part.
I think I was referring to the complete and varying body of work, groundbreaking impact on how music is played/written, versatility, songwriting, and reinvention. Brian’s utilizing Adam with his music and recharging his prominence as a current, modern, internationally successful touring musician at his age is a huge improvisation on Brian’s part…and caps a particular realm of success that few guitarists ever achieve. Broad, crossover fan base as well.
(Prince is prob. up there in these regards, imo, though not as aged as Bri.)
With all that said… I agree that you’re right about the artists you’ve mentioned. I have enormous admiration for those guitarists as well. Most of them helped shape my love and appreciation for music. My prior post statement was too vague, I think. One more I’ll add to the list, if I may? In terms of skill & relatively newer one on the scene – Matthew Bellamy.
Well, Muse is one of the great bands out there, on a world level.

You know… in earlier times I’d suspected the little shirt lift as an “accident” – maybe spontaneous decision – but, looking back now, knowing what we know… Yup. Planned. And damn, what a plan.
And yeah, I noticed it alright. Really noticed a lot of things.
The way he also interacted with the camera… as though right into our eyes…
so seductive.
I hadn’t seen that on Idol (and haven’t since). As I said…it still brings chills.
Plenty of contestants would’ve been intimidated by what Randy Travis said.
Adam just laughed it off, assumed the best & trusted his instincts.
How can someone not adore this man?
And, I agree – what stellar validation he received from Abdul.
Comparison to Kashmir… that ain’t bad a’ tall.
Part of what got my attention that night and built into his sex appeal IS that daring, fearless approach. It was simply intoxicating and plain artistic ballsy to do that with a country Johnny Cash song. Go big or go home guts.

Sometimes I think he’s audacious enough to blow his own mind. lol.
And we get to watch – in awe – & enjoy the ride with his musical journey & experimentation.
