As July ends, so does a fantastic series of concerts by Queen and Adam across North America. It will be a summer that many ALLers will never forget! Q+AL take a few weeks break before heading off to Asia and then for concerts Down Under. If the reception there is anything like it was here, Q+AL can expect to get some major loving!

    Well, I guess all Indian women better stick to their saris, and all Japanese and Chinese women better dig out their kimonos and obis, and islanders in the South Pacific go back to sarongs and in some cases topless, and black women, stop all hair straightening (looking at you, Oprah). No western minis, shorts, PANTS (abomination) for you, ladies. It is a two-way street, after all. And NO rock and roll, jazz, rap, hiphop, etc. I mean, really? As long as we tolerate cultural diversity, the cultures will coexist and some blending is inevitable in a society where there is freedom of expression.
    Or, we can adopt intolerance and end up like the Sunnis and the Shiites….oh, and BAN Halloween altogether.

    cwm and for the “best of” list, here are the Calgary ‘special moments’:

    The banter was hilarious. At one point, wearing the gold creepers, he said “Look what I can do with my shoes”, went up on the toes and walked en pointe! Then laughed and said “I’m a 7-year-old” and the audience howled.

    As for the lady with the ‘tits’ – she was one of 8 sitting right on the stage- those lucky dogs – he was doing an audience response thing and he took over the mike to them and wasn’t impressed: “That was terrible!” “You can do better with those big tits!” he said to the woman. “I can’t sing, that’s why I have big tits” she replied. “I can say that cause I’m a fag” he said as he chuckled and waltzed away. And man they were big, clearly man-made and on full display.

    ETA: I was sitting about20 feet away from her.

    Kradamour, I also really like Lindsey Stirling. I have quite a bit of her music. Love her luminescent playing style and fresh way she combines dubstep with her violin. In fact, she filmed the video with violin + dubstep close to my home among enormous crystalline blue ice caves and sculptures. Also enjoy the collaborations she does with Pentatonix as well (amazing acapella group). Anyway, sorry to butt in! I don’t often hear of many people who are into her stuff. Smile

    smalls. Here is the interview from 2012 where the dj asks him questions from the listeners. It’s 19 minutes but if you move up to about 17:00 they talk about people wondering “how big is your p***s?” He answers “it’s plenty” at 18:00. And even he is surprised that he finally answered it.

    Thank you, rs and Angelowal. It just aggravates me that people create these controversies. Those complaining about Katy Perry’s beautiful oriental-themed performance on the AMA’s were all of course speaking our language, wearing western-style clothes, and even the act of protesting is from OUR culture, not theirs, so that’s cultural appropriation too. Oh the irony. I mean, then ALL of K-Pop in Korea is, too. *We must put a stop to it, our culture is in grave danger* LOL.
    This is the country that ALLOWS THE MOST FREEDOM of preserving cultural heritages. By the same token, more is expressed and observed and people adopt what they like freely. It’s a homage, not appropriation, and I don’t think it takes anything away from the original culture.
    Glad Adam defended himself (and “Miss Thang”, the black woman that lives inside him is safe).

    Speaking of GoodNPlenty – remember an audio-only interview years ago in Scandinavia, methinks, where Adam said something to the effect “ask me anything – open book” and the guy asked him how big and Adam, as I remember, laughed and seemed taken aback for a moment, but then used the word, “impressive.” (No doubt, I’m sure.)

    I never got the upset over Katy Perry dressing as a geisha either, or of Pharell wearing an Native American headress (he is part NA)….I wrote a few comments on MJ’s when a thread came up on a similar theme….
    I thought maybe it was a cultural thing…and not being American I just didn’t understand it properly..I brought up fancy dress parties, and so many ‘outfits’ seem like a no go zone in the US, makes you wonder what you can dress as.
    In HK, the Chinese people love it when westerners dress in Chinese clothing, especially for festivals. It makes them feel we are really trying to join in and learn about their culture.
    BTW riskylady, the Chinese don’t wear kimonos, its cheongsam’s.) Agree with you post though.

    Read on twitter yesterday that the crown has a velvet foam lining in it to keep from falling off his head. Here is a picture where supposedly you can see the lining. I can’t on my cell phone but maybe you can.

    My thought, too riskylady. So proud of Adam for making his point in such an inclusive way. Just hope he doesn’t feel the need to censor himself a bit, because “Ms. Thang” is awesome.

    As for us, how much less fun would this blog be if we didn’t have “Sista-Krads” and “Sista-asif”? And what would we say to each other as a form of encouragement if we didn’t couldn’t say “You GO Girl!”

    And now that I have the hang of all-you-can-eat dim sum, I am going to keep calling it dim sum, not lunch or dinner, unless it offends M…

    Weird Al would actually be a good fit for the Super Bowl – his target audience probably overlaps nicely with football fandom. I love him but it would be a bit of a step down for them.

    Shakira fans have put together a professional looking video in her support. Does anyone here follow her or know if she is big enough? The Voice has increased her profile quite a bit. If the Voice impresses the Halftime committee, they might prefer Adam Levine and Maroon 5. Side Frown

    Anyone not think that KISS’s football show is part of a long term strategy to get to Superbowl halftime? Gene Simmons is one smart cookie, whatever else you want to say about him. More likely to pay off in a later year, though.

    QAL is a very good fit. Fingers crossed.
