Oh I remember that day just about 20 years ago when I said bye to my parents and moved to a big(gest) city for my studies! I was so thrilled to get on my own! My mother told me she has always tried to think that children are “borrowed” to you for 20 years and then you have to let them go and live their own life. Which doesn’t mean you don’t care or be in contact or help if it’s needed, but let the youngster form her own kind of independence. But she was very happy to get me near again when I moved back to my roots a few years ago..

Texas It is hard having our ‘birds’ leave the nest but it is so wonderful to see them making strong and comfy new nests for themselves as they branch out and test their wings. I’ll be thinking of you and hoping that there is more sweet than bitter over the next few days. BTW, let’s all hope for some Adam in NY and we can all have another great excuse to visit. Not too far for me at all.

NYC is one of my favourite cities. I used to travel there regularly on business and one of my best friends lives there. I’m in if there’s a concert there.
Adam seems to be discussing the Idol possibility in all interviews now. I have a theory that Idol wants to lock up it’s second judge before it decides on judges 3 and 4, which is why Adam is hanging at the moment. A bit of hopefulness on my part but, hey!
Texas Your daughter is a very lucky girl, getting to spend 4 years in NYC. You will miss her but you must be so happy to see her expanding her horizons and making the most of her opportunities in one of the world’s truly amazing cities.
And you can visit her at end of term and have a few days together.

whew…hot out there! A couple of pages ago I mentioned about the New York State Fair which has a couple of “dark nights” where they do not have an act booked. Since the fair started today the front page story was all about this. Here is what the director said:
“Even at this late date, I would book an act if I were convinced it would sell out the 16,000 seat grandstand in one day. No door is ever shut. If a spectacular act is presented to us, we would strongly consider it.”
Of course he is in Australia now and 16,000 is a lot of seats to fill. Oh well maybe next year.
As most of you know, the mail is delivered here in Canada by moose. There are two of them that take care of the entire country. “Lightning” and “Poor Old Bessie”. The Kiev DVD that jlurksacto mailed to me 8 days ago is obviously with Bessie because I’ve yet to receive it. I figure, having left Vancouver over a week ago, Bessie must be somewhere in Saskatchewan by now. She just has to lope through Manitoba and she’ll be in Ontario. It’ll probably be here shortly after Labor Day.

Advice for singing competition contestants, because X Factor Australia is about to begin, and the question about Idol judge.
It looked awkward because Adam was seated on a stool in between both interviewers but they were standing and he had to keep looking up at both of them. He was a Munchkin.
