It’ll be great to have this to watch when I get ready to watch it and to add to my collection of Adam Stuff.
The other package was a total surprise–a beautiful handmade, beaded, bejeweled key necklace from a fellow poster here at ALL. Reminescent of Adam’s key tattoo. That was such a sweet thing for her to do.
Is it Christmas? The gifts surely made me feel like it is.
Nicki and Mariah ….I seriously just turned off my season pass. Wow. I hope Adam isn’t on with those 2. He has to much class and they will surely make it even less about the contestants and more about who is the bigger diva. Let him mentor sure but just no. Sad I really used to enjoy Idol.
That Nicki Minaj has quite the colorful vocabulary. I could just imagine how that’s going to go over with the Bible Belt contingent of the Idol demographic. It sure would get the Idol masses to talking and I guess that’s the whole point. Just as an aside, my 25 yr old daughter called her a sellout because she’s turning much more pop and playing down the more urban rap.
Mariah and now her?? As far as Nicki is concerned…I know it’s for a judging and not mentoring but I don’t think she’s qualified to give advice of any sort in regards to singing. Recently, she refusted to follow doctors orders and ended up losing her voice (if you can call it that) and had to cancel appearances. Not quite sure what Idol is going for. There are many other folks much more qualified than either Mariah or Nicki.
She’s probably trying to out gaga Gaga.

I popped over to Mj’s real quick and the first line of the story over there is ‘US Weekly is reporting that Nicki Minaj is definitely joining the American Idol judges panel”. Us Weekly…ummm, ok.
Then goes on to print part of the story…“I’m not sure the deal is completely done yet, but yes, she is definitely doing it,” one insider reveals. “A few more slight things to sign off on but it is happening.”
Didn’t we just go through this with one of the Jonas Bro’s? Wasn’t that just short of official? Of course, maybe that’s still in the works. Maybe there is a method to their maddness over on Idol? Maybe they are trying to get a younger, hipper audience(or something)?? Granted, I don’t really care since I haven’t watched Idol since our boy broke it.
On the whole gender thing, have any of you heard the story of Baby Storm? I’m listening to it now, and it’s really interesting. A family whose firstborn son chose ‘girly’ toys and clothes and had to deal with societal derision has refused to reveal the gender of their third child who is well over a year old now.

I know I am in the minority, but I really like Nikki Minaj, the person and the performer. Fierce and sweet! I gave the reasons in another thread, not gonna repeat, just wanted to stand up for my girl here.
Oh please don’t get me started on Baby Storm. They live nearbye and the father is a left-wing self-promoter who manages to get himself into the papers at least once a year. This story broke over a year ago and there are so many holes in it. The worst of this is that the whole project has to involve the baby not being able to claim who he/she is if they want to keep it going. It has hit a nerve in Toronto and rightly so. Maybe I should ask around. I am sure everyone on their street knows the baby’s gender by now.
So worked up I signed on through my iPhone to post this. LOL.
Okay, TLKC, perhaps so, but I still think it’s a good thing to discuss this stuff so that kids don’t have to be “de-gayed” like Cheeks, or bullied into suicide like Jamie Hubley and so many others.

Kradamour– I get that she’s popular (some of her songs are catchy), I just don’t think she’s qualified for the job. Granted, when did that ever stop Idol or any of the other “talent/reality” contests/shows.
I am on the can’t stand Minaj train. Don’t really know much about her though except what I have seen on TV performances and I have never seen a good one. I just read her twitter too, umm can we say class act—NO.
Can not believe she would be qualified to judge singers. I am definitely out of Idol if she is a judge. Not much of a loss, they haven’t picked a “winner” in years.

I’ve only seen a couple of interviews with Nicki Minaj, she came across as really ditzy, and not very articulate…I was talking to a 14yo girl the other day about her being an Idol judge, she didn’t seem very impressed. Said she used to be good, with good,clever fast rap songs, but has got worse, and have you heard her song that just repeats about the ho all the time. That she doesn’t even write her own stuff, and that it doesn’t matter as no one really watches Idol anymore!!!
I think it would be quite funny watching her on Idol, reckon she’d be quite fun, and come out with all sorts of weird things…
So the troupe is in Australia. Checked the time difference. They are 14hours ahead of me (EDT). So right now it is 8:45am there.

I’m conflicted about Nicki Minage. I don’t like her at all. But, she could be a not boring judge. I do think she was nice to those little English girls on Ellen. Time will tell.
I saw Nicki Minaj on Ellen with those girls too, and while I agree she was nice to them, the little kids knew more of the words to her song than she did….and her lip synching on Idol was the worst I’ve ever seen from anyone! But agree I don’t think she’d be boring,I’d watch just to see what weird things she’d say.

Sorry Calgary I shouldn’t have jumped so fast but it was a big story in our neck of the woods and I know some of this couple’s friends.
My issue is, in part, with the terminology. Their first child has been raised gender free (playing down gender in upbringing is a worthwhile goal.)There is no such thing as a genderless child. The child is gendered and should be free to express her/himself unselfconsciously, when it comes to gender and sexuality. He/she should not feel, as this child eventually will, that they need to keep a secret about something that is so integral to their identity. At some point, the experiment will end – hopefully before the child feels any guilt about betraying “what” he is. (And most people think it’s a “he.”)
You are very right about this story. It is a very interesting and it offers a lot of food for thought. I keep wondering if the boys will grow up to be a pair of Alex Keatons.
Following Mariah Carey. As MJ would say, things that make you go hmmmmmmm.
I don’t want to fan the flames of false hopes but on MJ’s there is a train of thought that says, if Mariah Carey and Nicky Minaj ARE judges, then it is likely that there will be at least two more judges, both white males, to cover the demographics.
One of them will be country but who will the other one be? I am thinking the same way as jlurksacto. Nick Jonas is not in. His interview with Ryan Seacrest suggests that he doesn’t know what’s going on.
IF Nicki Minaj is in, that may be good for Adam. It’s certainly not good for Pharrell.
On the other hand, all of these rumours may have come from the re-arrangment of NM’s schedule, which could be for a movie project or who knows what.
Not giving up hope yet but nothing to get upset about.
The REAL story will be if Mariah Carey follows Adam.

Anyway, y’all, it does make for a very interesting story, by our national public bradcaster, and all sorts of experts are brought in; the only one I can think of right now is Barbara Coloroso.
My younger son, for several years, insisted on wearing pink pajamas. He just loved the color pink. I got a huge amount of grief about it from just about everyone, especially when he was supposed to wear his pajamas in a school play. THAT was quite the dilemma! I was so afraid that he would be subjected to ridicule…but I also didn’t want him to feel that there was anything wrong with his pink pajamas. (they were pink thermals, btw, no ruffles or bows, just a beautiful shade of pink).
I decided to not say anything to him, just let him wear his pink pj’s on the stage. There were definitely some frowns and wrinkled brows, but son didn’t notice and thank goodness no one was cruel enough to say anything to make him uncomfortable. It could easily have gone the other way, though.
I don’t know anything about the family in Canada. I guess I “get” where they might be coming from, especially after my experience with my son, but it does seem extreme. My son wore his pink pjs fifteen years ago. It would be nice to think we had advanced a little bit.

Not meaning to be a post hog but I am so sorry to hear about the Manton, California fires, Miss Chaos. I can’t imagine what it would be like to lose your home and livlihood in a natural disaster or a fire. I guess people are amazingly resilient and they just get up and do what they have to do.
