So many interesting things to catch up from yesterday evening (my night) and today – that my poor little brain is totally overheated! cwm, what an earth keeps you going like that
?
The conversation about the state of music business and youngsters’ short attention span was very interesting, but also kind of frightening (I read that long scientific article about the subject, that someone posted). Is the human brain that adjustable for all the changes that are happening in technology? Or what is the price people pay for it? I feel myself a dinosaur because I am the old type, I can’t share my attention to many targets, on a short spin. And in music I LOVE the good voice, not all the artificial things put into the songs these days. Should I move to an isolated island with other long lost dinosaurs?
Thanks for all the Adam goodies – it’s always a pleasure to see that beautiful face
And fwachdr, your tree was very impressive! Where did you get that tape?
Haha, as you can see I am trying very hard to embrace Adam’s new look.
At least those “staring” beautiful eyes are the same!!
Welcome to Jurassic Park, LadyNorth!
I am the one who posted that article, and it absolutely terrified me.
Sidenote: I sent it to my son. He came into my office later and said ruefully that it took a long time to read, because he kept having to check his tumblr and his texts. He totally “got” it. I am hoping that it will have a little bit of effect; wish everyone would read it.
That “poster” of Adam looking out at us…my new wallpaper. Sigh. Really, really gorgeous.

I had to turn my desk so that the computere isn’t visible from the hall, though, not worth the eye rolls and derision…
Many thanks for posting it!
My oldest daughter in Erie, PA, e-mailed me right back about that article, Krad – she’s a professor (art) and, while not a Luddite, definitely has those tendencies – especially where the internet/computers are concerned. Sent it to all the teens in the family, too – they’re pretty open-minded kids – be interesting to get their opinions.
Lady North, I bought the roll of tape at Lowe’s…it is cheap! And sooo practical for wrapping trees, cars, busses, microphone stands, old dinosaurs, etc!
Oh, that pic of Adam’s staring out at you – damn that boy has it going – lol.
My thoughts exactly!
LOL! Finnish Big Brother ad.

New page – bringing over my announcement:
Some good numbers news today…. NCOE has moved up to #7 on the BB dance chart. Woohoo!!
http://www.billboard.com/charts/dance-club-play-songs#/charts/dance-club-play-songs
ETA: Notice that most of Adam’s news box is related to American Idol judges.
Adam has once again been nominated for the VH1 Do Something awards. They seem to be targeting his AIDS charity concert with Elton John.
http://blog.vh1.com/2012-08-15/take-a-look-at-a-few-of-our-celebrity-do-something-awards-nominees-and-their-causes
nice avi, dcglam. He’s staring at me trying to hypnotize me into liking the blond.
Great about NCOE! I expect Pop That Lock to be on that chart some day…and IT WILL…and be number one!!!
Love your thinking, luval!!
Was looking at the future in my crystal ball. I think I’m seeing Adam on Jay Leno’s Tonight Show sometime before the PLL episode. They’ll have lots to talk about–the Queen tour, American Idol judging, the Trespassing tour, and of course, his television acting debut. He’ll show a clip from the episode. Then he’ll get to perform Cuckoo. Ellen may invite him on her show too.
After the PLL episode becomes the most watched show of the season, other shows will take note, and Adam will receive guest appearance offers. A music special could be in the works.
It could happen…
Thanks for the link to Home Planet and chunkymonkeys’ conspiracy theory cwm. KK is so strange to me. She is like a dog with a bone.
Reyna and Keisha are entertainment professionals and should behave accordingly but I did check out the exchange and was mortified to find that the boy was Canadian and very rude.
I was even more embarrassed to hear the boy’s mother on Twitter this morning. Contrary to her assertions, “cunt” is no less of an insult in Victoria B.C. because they watch a lot of British TV, where it is “commonly” used.
I just hope Keisha figures out that the best tweets are about Adam and what fun they are having.
Things that make you go hmmmm…..
Whatever could this mean?
An excerpt from http://tv.msn.com/tv/article.aspx?news=751197
Well that’s weird. I have never heard of that show. It sounds as though they expanded his part and he didn’t have time for it. Hmmmmmmm is right….
I have heard of that show. Fall tv I think. Tim Allen trying another sitcom. To me it looks like Jonas is busy because he got the Idol job or he was really a bad actor.
Cute picture from last night.

If Adam is going to do talk shows to promote his new single when he gets back from Japan, IMHO, it shouldn’t be just Leno and Ellen. They don’t help him sell his music. He needs to be on Jimmy Fallon. He’s younger and much funnier and trendy. I watch him a lot.
Yes, mils! Jimmy Fallon is my favorite late night guy. I have said this all along too. I’d love Adam on the John Stewart show as well.
Please, please please on John Stewart. And On Steve Colbert.
yes yes yes to Steve Colbert too!!!
Since there isn’t too much happening right now, I found this video on a current thread on mj’s It’s from 2009. Never saw it before.

That Newsweek article was a major topic of conversation at my house when it first came out. Both of my sons ( 18 and 21 ) read it, and totally agreed with it as it applies to themselves, their friends and their campers.
The college son said that students were tweeting and playing games in class. He was paying attention and taking notes. He got really sick and tired of “everybody” asking for his notes. So, he started to charge for his services. He said it was pathetic how so many college students couldn’t pay attention in class.
The 18 year old who just graduated from High School, and is off with a full Honors Scholarship to school in a week, was in total agreement with the article and sees the effect of media on how kids think , very clearly.
They were both full time day camp counselors this summer. They both kept saying how the little kids ( ages 6-11) had no imagination, no patience, didn’t respect rules of games, and just generally needed instant gratification for everything. They wanted to re-start a game ( like kickball, softball, soccer ) if they didn’t “win” every time. They couldn’t wait for their turn. My sons said it was because these kids were raised on video games. In a video game, you don’t have to wait turns, you can start over, you can quit. You can cheat. They don’t play with friends outside. They play games by themselves. It’s pathetic.
There’s an App for everything. So, for instance, they were on a bus taking a field trip and some of the boys were playing Truth or Dare with a Smartphone App. The counselors told the kids to turn off the phones, and play on their own. They couldn’t . They couldn’t think creatively on their own. The App’s do all their thinking for them. It’s learned stupidity.
I’m pretty proud of my kids for nailing it on the head. They also said that now they appreciate why I held off for so long on IPods, video games, and the like in my house.
That article was fascinating and very scary.
It is on its way, luval…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSuYLXIBD4I&feature=player_embedded
luval, thanks so much! I can’t believe we missed that one. It was wonderful. Too bad it cut off before the end.
WOW!!!! Thanks, dcglam. And what or where is AXN channel? lol
Can someone bring the Newsweek article to this page? I went back a few & just couldn’t find it. Thanks.
Pop That Lock!! Yay!! I’m so hoping it’s the single!!
luval, I just went back to look for more info as well, and I’m wondering if this may not be official. Just thinking here — not sure.
ETA: I’m referring to the PTL vid, not the Newsweek article.
Newsweek article:
http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2012/07/08/is-the-internet-making-us-crazy-what-the-new-research-says.html
Yes, real life consequences, mils – not good.
Mils, That is why it is so important for young kids to be involved in team sports, piano lessons, Scouts, karate, dance, etc. We have complained about the grandchildren being overly programmed in our family, but at least they are not on video games and phones 24/7…unlike those of us on ALL!! LOL!
I googled Breakin in AXN network and it is a Sony owned network in several parts of the world…Asia, Philippines…not the US. I came across this Yahoo “question”. If anyone has a yahoo account and wants to sign in & answer. Sounds like a legit trailer.
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20120815102715AAOC5K0
mils, my sons and my students give me the scoop on their age group, but it is truly frightening to hear from your counselor sons that the little kids are affected in this way.
)
In my classroom, I have seen the creep of all these issues…and now I see even very little kids with their own cell phones, on them constantly.
My younger son (19), also in University Honors, tells me that it is a real struggle even for him to concentrate and stay focused; he has finally started to occasionally turn off his phone, and he was never willing to do that before. We have no television, and I naively thought that would protect my sons from the attention issues…
I thought that the dopamine relationship outlined in the article was very interesting…it certainly explains a lot. Click on something, be rewarded, have good feelings…over and over and over again.
I guess that is what I am doing when I pull a Kradamour…I come back to click and see what has happened because I’m not ready to give up that click/reward relationship for the night. Ditto for the game Words With Friends. (Too, too addictive. Gonna break that habit after this round of games.
Well, maybe…
luval, I have a yahoo account. I just answered with probably more than they wanted to know!

(and just went back and added more…)
Thanks, kradamour…I’ll have to go peek!
I really have no addictions of any kind except one.

eta: krad your answer was absolutely perfect! You listed everything in a nice condensed package. If I had asked that question and read your answer I would be running out right now (or checking youtube) to see who this singer was.
we have AXN over here, a very popular channel on Broadband tv, the other week they were using Shady in a programme trailer too.
Good news, hkfan! I wonder who is choosing these songs?
And why they are being used for television BUT CAN’T GET ADDS ON THE RADIO???!!!
So Kradamour….. Are you ablesq?? LOL
Our boy is certainly getting himself out there.
BB Photos of the Week…
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v307/lady_rinehart/AI%20Gifs/pictures%202/bb.png
haha, kradamour…read your edit…nice, I hope the person who asked yahoo the question will go back and see that there now is an answer. A great informative one!
cwm, did you email your address?
There is a lot of worrying information in that article. I have always thought that the internet and it’s attractions could support mental illness but I have never thouht of it as potentially causing it. I know several teachers and they have been blunt about it’s impact on attention spans and concetration but the idea that it is impacting grey and white matter in our brains??
The article also mentioned something that I do worry about: blood clots. I used to go to the gym almost every morning and cycle/garden on weekend mornings in the summer. I walked for miles on the weekend. For the last 3 years I have replaced most of the time I devoted to those activities with the internet. Yikes!
I am not depressed (I love it) but maybe it’s time to balance things out a bit.
I am so glad that a lot of us have connected personally and that we seem to enjoy it and each other. I think Adam Land is a very social place.
That photo, dcglam, is just great – the hair and the tattoo – that’ll make people curious – they’ll want to know what it means.
On AdamBertDaily Blog they have an “Idol Rumor Timeline” that is very interesting ends with the Endfest interview(Sacramento). I REALLY BELIEVE he is headed to Idol as he never denies rumors and seems irritated with them going away–Just saying!!!!

Well thanks for that 2009 interview link luval. Now I’m all happy again! Adam is so well-spoken and charming.
Just read your dissertation on “Pop That Lock” plus plus Kradamour. I would love to know a bit more about song placement. Adam’s songs are so varied, they offer a host of opportinities for background on TV shows.
I know he would love to see Chokehold used in 50 Shades of Grey.
Yup, I’m ablesq in another life…that is my yahoo account. Glad luval posted the link so we could answer and get out the word!
I hope that your response is typical, luval!
In response to that Newsweek article, I am now going to go outside for a little while to fill the bird feeders, and then sit and read a book for a while.

(dcglam, I might even work on the book I am writing, thanks to your encouragement!)
G’nite, peeps!

Sweet Adam dreams!
But we’re back to the same problem. No one’s buying. We need to sell Adam. People need to see him be charming. He can be on ALL of the talk shows as far as I’m concerned. I want him to be on TV.
I picked Leno first because he really seemed to like Adam, they had great rapport, and he let Adam be charming. I’ll never forget the almost blush from Adam on “safe plucking.” Leno won’t try to cut him off or belittle him. If Adam needs to win over Middle America, Leno would be a good way to do it.
Yup, pulling a Kradamour…needed that dopamine…
Actually I left my book because I forgot to post that Husbands is back, do we collectively know that?
Also:
Episodes are longer this season, looks like a bigger budget. I enjoyed the first episode.
