After a very busy month of July which featured 11 concerts (5 with Queen and 6 solo – including the epic Fantasy Springs event pictured above), August begins with a short period of rest for Adam. However, as he tweeted a couple of days ago, we can expect the third single from Trespassing to be announced sometime early this month. Later in the month, Adam will head to Japan and Australia for album promo and a few concerts as well. We are also anxiously waiting to learn if Adam will be a judge or have some other regular role in the upcoming season of American Idol. In the meantime, enjoy the chat!

    Thanks, luval.
I actually have an iPod (you were the one who got me to put some music on it after my son gave it to me and I agonized about the process!) and several sets of earphones. I just don’t like being isolated with the phones, it is so antisocial to shut out the world (or so it seems to me).

I have a docking station, too, but it just seems like a lot of trouble to put music on the iPod.

I have collected tons (40 GB) of songs/videos over the years. I figure if I like a song enough that I want to download it, I should also support the artist. So I always buy. Except for live performances that are not available for purchase. I love to dig around youtube and watch live performances, just like I love to go to live gigs. The only radio I listen to is NPR. I think I listen to music at least 4 hours a day (computer/car/idock). Always have. If you asked me if I would rather give up my left arm or music I would seriously consider. It seems that vital to me.

That is so interesting, Turquoise. And if I never heard another song for the rest of my life, it would be okay with me.
As long as I could hear Adam articulately speaking!

  4. LadyNorth says:

And we must always remember all the int’l fans: The Russia/Eastern Europe group alone has 28,000 members.

Riskylady, where did you find that info, what group is that? Is it the amount of people at the official fan club or album sales or what? I am very curios to know how much fans there are in Europe. But for what I have seen from latest concert vids (Queen), Adam’s Eastern European fans are usually younger (girls/women from late teens to 25?). UK?

I found the other day a group of Finnish glamberts in facebook (group size was 170 or something like that). Most of them belonged to that age group… Not much conversation. I rather play here Grin

  5. LadyNorth says:

Adam’s tweet about the new single…

    Adam Lambert @adamlambert
FYI- still finishing up single Artwork… When it’s done I’ll share! Can’t rush the creative juice. Wink thanks 4 ur patience.

  6. milwlovesadam says:

Turquoise, I’m like you, I listen to music and/or entertainment several hours daily, and I almost always have some kind of something on and playing. I listen to music while I cook, eat, exercise, and relax. The only place I don’t, is the beach. There, my music is the sound of the waves, wind and birds.

I really should just finally cave in and buy an IPod with a docking station. Hmmm. Someday. Maybe.

I honestly can’t function without music. It feeds my soul. I have a relationship with music. I interact with it. It gives me moods and emotions. Sometimes, I play with it, if I’m “down” I go lower with it, if I’m needing a lift, I get uplifted with it, if I’m happy, it makes me dancy, I just can’t imagine not having music in my life.

  7. milwlovesadam says:

So, what is it? Shady? Cuckoo? Pop That Lock?

    Or. Hope beyond Hope. Runnin’???

  8. LadyNorth says:

Mils, that tweet doesn’t tell any more of itThinking Maybe the ArtWork means hair Shock I think it could be Cuckoo. Trespassing would have been black I think.

If he keeps it blond, I guess in some point it will get dark stripes… Like zebra pants.

And yes for me music is very important too. It brings the emotions and interprets my own. Different music in different kinds of emotional states. And different phases in life too! But I read a lot, so I don’t listen to the music then. Or when I am writing. Can’t multitask!

  9. Miss Chaos says:

Which song goes along with the Platinum hair, and along with the artwork? Where is he, and who is doing the artwork? I guess he is home, so who ever did the last one is probably doing it. I think I take Trespassing out because he has had a lot of artwork for that and I dont see him changing the artwork for that song. Leaves Cuckoo, with Adam being all crazy looking with his colors of hair, it has to be with it coming up on PLL, lets see, what vampire, werewolf, has Platinum hair? Pumpkin Rainbow Vampire Waiting

Gotta tell ya’all,, exercising to Queenbert is fun!

I’m just gonna be a copycat here and b-quote those of your comments that describe me. Thanks for all your comments. I did go thru a period when I wouldn’t listen to music because of too many bad memories that music just kept bringing back to my mind. It took Adam to bring music back to me, and I will be forever grateful. I listen to him every day. I also listen to a few other artists thrown in occasionally. And I do listen to XM radio and regular FM radio for my music. Now it’s back to the bedcovers for me!

I don’t have an Ipod and likely never will. I don’t like earbuds. I don’t have a smart phone. I don’t have internet on my phone, and likely never will. I don’t tweet, and likely never will. I can’t ever see myself watching videos on a phone. I like CD’s. I like DVD’s. I like a bigger screen. Call me old-fashioned. Fine by me!

I think I listen to music at least 4 hours a day (computer/car/idock). Always have. If you asked me if I would rather give up my left arm or music I would seriously consider. It seems that vital to me.

    thanks riskylady!

I am ashamed to tell I don’t know where to search for sales numbers. But I checked some charts, Adam’s TP was still at place 20 at this week’s album sales in Finland. Only 3 or 4 artists in top20 were from abroad (Adele, Bieber, Springsteen). So doing quite well as a foreigner… UK I couldn’t find it in top 100 Frown Or NCOE. But not thinking of numbers any more.

  15. milwlovesadam says:

I do wonder, just wondering, it will never be reality, but I remember when MTV used to have performance videos/songs that would chart for them ( on TV ), not record sales.

Man, if they would show, for instance, Queenbert, Somebody to Love from 7/14, TV’s would explode across the land. Another One Bites the Dust?

Seriously, Queen should have been filming for a DVD. If they weren’t, they should be charged with a crime. ” Withholding evidence that Adam Lambert is the greatest entertainer alive.”

  17. Ron says:

I’m glad some of you had a laugh with the photo last night. Smile I have no plans to do it in RL JOSIEJOE. Smile

Thank you mils, Kradamour and luval (on the phone) for recommending foods and different vitamins. Very thoughtful of you to care! I’ve taken it all to heart and will definitely begin a vitamin regimen this weekend.

This morning I had oatmeal for something called, is it, breakfast?! Smile Oatmeal has come along way from plain old Quaker Oats when I was 4 years old to the delicious maple syrup and cinnamon flavored oatmeal I had this morning! Not bad at all!

I too think that it’s interesting (baffling) that Adam has 1.6 million people following him on Twitter but it makes very little difference and doesn’t translate to record sales. It should make a difference but it doesn’t.

The very first time that I started to think along those lines was when the GNT DVD was announced. eywflyer calculated that when the tour ended approximately 440,000 people saw the show. I naively thought 200,000 would of course be purchasing the DVD. I didn’t think I was being unreasonable with that assessment at all. In fact, I thought I was being conservative with my estimate.

Bieber’s 2-part, 4 hour TV special received the lowest ratings out of all of the four major networks. With his enormous fan base, I assumed the ratings would be through the roof. That should of happened because it would be logical.

I wondered how well Katy Perry’s movie, with her huge fan base, would be received. I knew it would be a success, I just didn’t know how successful. It was a total flop! Considering how many people pay much more to see her in concert than the cost of a movie ticket and that they’d be able to see their idol on the big screen, it doesn’t make very much sense that the movie was a box office failure.

What should be reasonable to conclude, because it’s a natural progression and is logical, you can’t anymore. What seems sensible, makes no sense. Everything is upside down. I think that it’s very unfortunate timing for Adam. The music industry appears to have gone haywire just when he’s trying to make it as a recording and radio artist.

I’m beginning to realize I’m not in a particularly good mood. Smile

I suppose a contributing factor is that earlier I thought to Google: Grammy predictions for 2013. I don’t know where that came from, the thought just hit me. I think I only found 4 sites that put together recent lists from last month. I guess I don’t have to tell you that Adam or “Trespassing” were no where to be seen on these Top 10 lists of the years best. Consider the sources, however. These weren’t lists from noted critics or from respected magazines. I was a little disappointed though because I expect “Trespassing” to be on everyone’s Top Ten list! That’s reasonable, isn’t it? Wink

I’ll be back later after I’ve had somewhere in the neighborhood of 11 beers. Laugh I’ve never figured it out but, for some reason, that always seems to raise my spirits. Grin

  18. milwlovesadam says:

Ladynorth, I belong to the fansite for several reasons. You can have private messages with fans without having to divulge personal email. You have access to meet and greets. They were only available there, not at AO during the tour. It’s adult, not cray. It’s easy to navigate. AO isn’t.

The re-design looks gorgeous. But, I already sent an email to groundcontrol about locating your own profile and finding mail. They probably are still working on it.

  19. luval says:

Riskylady…totally agree with your assessment of Spike Edney! Made me chuckle when he had to back peddle. The guys probably said something to the effect “you idiot! Don’t you understand this fandom?” Bet they all had a big laugh about it.

I belong to the fan club because it makes me feel special. Smile Have never belonged to a fan club of any type in my life!

  20. rs says:

I loved music when I was younger and somehow I lost it. After I came here in the early 70s I tried to get more into the local music scene here, but that didn’t really last and except for a few singers who I enjoyed hearing and some classical concerts, I pretty much just listened as background while in the car.

And then along came Adam and he reignited a fire in my heart. I made cds of his pre, post, and idol stuff and it was on constant play in the car in addition to a MP3 that I used while walking. I made an Adam Sampler that I listened to on repeat while waiting for Trespassing and once the album came out I had it on replay. Every time I hear it I catch something new or learn some more lyrics. At the moment I have a CD I made from one of the London concerts. I never get tired of it. And I rarely listen to anything else (although I did watch Adele’s concert at the Royal Albert Hall and loved it and went to a Paul Simon concert and loved that too). I have learned about the music from the generation that I “lost” from Adam and when I hear the originals of his covers I think that he sings them so much better. Most other pop music bores me. And when I didn’t hear Adam’s voice for over a week while I was on the cruise, I felt like an addict going into withdrawal, in desperate need of a fix.

So I will be forever thankful To Adam F Lambert for making me want to listen to music again. His just happens to be the music I want to listen to.

  31. Kradamour says:

Congrats, josephine! a new baby avi!

LOVE the new fansite visuals, so much more modern. Hated the old fussy one’s format, it looked as though there should be tea parties being scheduled by its members…(I do love me a good tea party, though!)

Re joining the fansite…I guess I am a member for the reasons that the others gave. Presales. M&G tickets. Plus I want to support Adam and this is his official fan club. (shrugs) and I only do the $10 membership, so it’s less than a dollar per month, no worries.

  32. luval says:

Other than Trespassing being number one for one week, isn’t NCOE dance track the first time Adam has had a top ten hit? I don’t think WWFM ever made the top ten, did it?

  33. Teri63 says:

I’ve been lurking for the past couple weeks (with maybe a short blurb here or there — don’t really remember because I’ve typed several posts that I deleted before making them official). I’ve mostly held off the Adam talk because this whole is-he-or-isn’t-he Idol judge thing has actually stressed me a little, and I made a promise to myself early-on in my obsession fanning that if Adam news ever actually altered the mood I woke up with, it was time to take a break. I mean, like everyone, I have my own shit to manage/celebrate/angst about — in my case, that includes a significant other, aging parents, a career, kids, dog and really ugly lizard (recently, the lizard has been causing the most stress/angst, as my husband has been catching cicadas to feed to it; don’t like them outside, like them even less in my house! Eeek!). Anyway, I was always on the fence about whether or not I wanted Adam as a judge on Idol, and I’ve just recently come to the conclusion that I’ll support him no matter what, but I actually kinda hope it doesn’t happen. It’s not that I don’t recognize that it could very possibly spur sales of his awesome work or that his awesome personality would finally be on display for many to see. I do recognize those possibilities. I also recognize, though, that were he to become a judge, his viewership would once again be Idol followers. I, personally, don’t have a bias against talent shows, but many, many do, and I guess I’ve felt recently that with his critically acclaimed album and Queen tour, he’s begun to move beyond Idol. True, he sold a lot more when the Idol fandom forked over their dollars for his debut album, but I actually prefer knowing that he’s beginning to be recognized for being really, damn GOOD by people outside of the Idol bubble. I’m really afraid that if he were to become a judge on Idol, all the work done to separate him from just being their product would be erased.

Anyway, I’m Adam’s fan no matter what. I’ll watch and support him if he gets the Idol gig. If he doesn’t get it, though, I really think his musical artistic reputation will be the better for it. Just my opinion, FWIW.

  34. milwlovesadam says:

FWIW, about the fanclub. In order to buy M&G on the GN tour, you needed to be a Glam member, at the higher level. It’s still not a lot of money, in comparison to the major spending most of us do for our guy.

So, when he does announce tour dates, pre-sales, and M&G’s, it’s important to already be a member at the higher level, or you will waste time and possibly lose out in the process of upgrading at the last minute.

Pre-sales through AO were a major fail for a lot of people, like me. AO seems to be incompatible with the AT&T server. It is interpreted as spam and kicked out. I hope they’ve fixed that problem. But, in the meantime I have become a “member” of many area theaters so that I am clued in to pre-sales. It makes for a lot of email, but, anything for Adam!

Speaking of spending money, I just ordered TSP from Amazon UK, and it has shipped. I wanted the physical CD with Map and all the bonus tracks. LOL. Please refer to my post above.

I can’t wait to hear Map with good speakers. To me, it’s the Voodoo of FYE. It should sound great live.

  35. milwlovesadam says:
  36. Ron says:

I’ve wanted and have posted about this very thing! I hope it sees the light of day, or rather, the prime of night.

Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell is looking to bring a new kind of music performance series to primetime.

The Lollapalooza founder is shopping a project to broadcast networks that takes the TV music show out of the hands of amateur singers and gives it back to the pros. The series would simply feature spectacular live performances by popular artists — no judges, no eliminations.

    http://insidetv.ew.com/2012/08/09/perry-farrell-series/

An updated, modern version of “The Ed Sullivan Show” with Adam making frequent appearances! Yes

  37. glambotgram says:

I have never been a member of the fansite except when they offered a free membership in the beginning.
I have purchased at presales through the venues and a M&G through the venue. So far I just haven’t found a reason to join. If I see a good enough reason in the future I might join then.

There are a couple of tweets out there about a movie coming out in OCT called Pitch Perfect about acapella groups. The tweets say there is something in it for Adam fans. I wonder if they used one of his songs?

Also another concert in Japan? on the 15th

  38. cwm says:

When comparing number of twitter followers to sales figures, remember that Adam’s twitter followers are from all around the world, and the sales figures are from the US only. So, to compute the percentage of US twitter followers who have bought the album, the denominator is not 1.6 million, it’s whatever the number of US twitter followers is, which of course we don’t know. I would guess that most of his twitter followers are from the US, but there is certainly a sizable percentage that are from outside the US.

I would agree though, that most of his twitter followers have not bought the album, no matter where they live. I wonder if many people follow him on twitter because they kinda like him and think he’s rather entertaining, but don’t necessarily intend to obtain everything he puts out. I follow Conan O’Brien on twitter, but if he put out a book tomorrow, I make no guarantees that I would buy it. I like P!nk, own a lot of her music, and follow her on twitter, but I haven’t bought her new single yet and don’t know when or whether I will. So there’s not a particularly strong relationship between number of twitter followers and number of sales. That became painfully obvious when both David Archuleta and David Cook released their latest albums. After seeing their sales figures in relation to their number of twitter followers, I knew we needed to be braced for Adam to have a similar experience. (And P!nk has 10 million followers, and you know she won’t sell that many albums or individual tracks.)

Re: listening to music, I don’t know what I would do without music in my life. I listen to Trespassing everyday. I love love love it. I find it very difficult to go a full day without hearing Adam sing something to me. Like mils said, it’s a chemical and visceral thing to which I am quite literally addicted – I can feel Adam’s voice going straight into my brain and releasing dopamine into my pleasure center (hah – sounds so sexual and kinky, but it’s actually neuroscience – honest!) Great music, especially sung with a great voice, makes my brain happy, feeds my soul, and carries my emotions. I get a similar effect from singing myself.

I would be lost without my ipod, which I listen to while I drive, cook, exercise, garden, walk the dog, etc. About 1/3 the 16 gigs of music on my ipod are Adam’s music – recorded and live performances. I purchase everything, except when it’s not available for purchase (live recordings). IMO, the best thing about having an ipod is that you can create playlists of favorite songs to match moods and activities. I love it.

I try listening to the radio once in a while, but I find that it just frustrates me, mostly because I can’t understand how program directors think so many songs are the radio are more deserving of radio play than Adam’s songs are.

My 18-year-old daughter doesn’t listen to the radio at all, only her ipod. She buys her music because we’ve made it clear that stealing music is wrong, but she doesn’t ever buy whole albums – only songs. She hears about new music from her friends, etc. And she doesn’t really have a favorite artist – she’s more about the songs themselves than the artists, if that makes sense.

Although clearly it’s an uphill battle, I continue to think that Adam and his team have a variety of tricks up their sleeves, and that his future success is not wholly dependent on radio spins or album and track sales. I’m looking forward to seeing what his upcoming appearance on PLL may lead to, I think streaming is an increasingly viable source of revenue, and I’m encouraged by the progress that he’s making in getting club play. I say if he’s getting shunned by radio, then head for the clubs and aim for getting spins on the dance floors instead.

    [yikes, long post — sorry!]

  40. glambotgram says:

Ok the tweeter that was tweeting about the movie says it is a little surprise for Adam fans so I bet his music will be playing the background somewhere. People were asking if it was a song used in the movie and she said “No that would be a big surprise” Frown

  41. Ron says:

I’ve been a member of the Fan Site from the beginning. I’m not going to renew my membership when it expires in November. As mils mentioned, it was useful as a good way to discreetly exchange email addresses. But, that was 2 years ago and I’ve since acquired all of the email addresses that I’ll ever need for the rest of my life. Laugh So the Fan Site served its purpose for me

I have 201 “Friends” on the Fan Site. I’ve never met or kept in touch with 194 of them! I never bought tickets or merchandise there. Never posted comments or participated in the Chat Room.

But, to do a complete about face, I also wonder if his record label and managers, TPTB look at the membership numbers at Adam’s fan sites. I wouldn’t want to be a contributor to dwindling numbers if in fact membership’s are getting smaller. (They could be increasing for all I know!).

    It’s only $9.99 … after all that, I think I’ll renew. Laugh

  42. Ron says:

    Loving the new avatars! Yes

    Three cheers josephine!

mils, I never had a glam membership, and I bought a M&G on the fansite. As far as I know, there is no requirement that you be a member at a higher level to buy a M&G, you just need to be willing to fork over $75 per minute to meet Adam. (Assuming the typical two minute meet and greet and a price of $150)

I’m very happy to know you feel that way! Adam has been in Toronto a number of times now and I’m sure he’ll be here again. I would love to meet you too!!

She doesn’t know it yet but we’ll all have dinner at TLKC’s. I’m in an apartment, she has a house.

    Smile

  46. milwlovesadam says:

Interesting Kradamour. Because I remember that August day 2 years ago that Adam leaked the fansite and so many of us found the M&G opportunities, and had to join at the Glam level to buy in. Maybe it changed after a few days, but, initially, that was how it was. The description of the membership packages even had M&G only under Glam. I remember Goatie and I “found” it early in the day and talked about it on MJ’s in whatever thread we were in that day. “Is it real?” “Are you doing it?” “I did it.”

Whatev’s. I guess I’m still a member because I enjoy talking to people without needing to exchange real email addresses. And, if any M&G opportunities do crop up.

  47. TLKC says:

So what am I making for dinner?

  48. luval says:

    TLKC….glamburgers Smile

  49. Kradamour says:

Maybe it changed after a few days

That makes sense, mils. I can imagine that peeps were VERY unhappy that they had to pony up for the higher priced package in order to spend yet MORE money for the M&G!

  50. aely says:

    Ron
Sounds like a plan. Never been to Toronto only Windsor. Funny, been to 26 countries and only been to Windsor in Canada. That needs to change! The thing I remember, how clean it was and no guns. We lived in Michigan and would go for day trips.
