The calm after the end of QAL in February didn’t last long – thank the universe – and the roll-out to TOH appears nicely underway. We had the Sunrise/AU interview on 3/18, followed by the MiniMTV one on 3/20, the Hunger Mag major Q&A (with spectacular pics by Rankin) on 3/24, Attitude Mag’s great article (sold-out, of course), ending up with the iHeart Red Carpet appearance. But the big news, of course, was the Ghost Town snippet and the interest it engendered. April looks to be even more interesting, with the single release on the 21st – good times ahead.

OMG. Let me see if I can sort this out.
There are TWO sets of charts.
First, there are THE ITUNES CHARTS. THEY ONLY MEASURE ITUNES SALES.
There is an OVERALL iTunes chart for SONGS (singles) and one for ALBUMS. This one collects ALL the genres, pop, country, rock, dance, etc. and ranks them.
Then there are individual SONG and ALBUM charts for each genre, i.e. pop, rock, etc.
I FIRST bought the song GHOST TOWN for $1.29. That counts as a Single sale.
THEN, after Shoshanna said they want to see the album fly, I DID pre-order TOH. That album sale will not count on THE ITUNES ALBUM SALES OF JUNE 16th. BUT SO WHAT. IT WILL COUNT ON THE BILLBOARD CHART OF JUNE 16th week, because BILLBOARD IS NOT ITUNES.
iTunes Single charts are sort of important as an indicator of sorts. Billboard also charts songs though, and includes all sources, not just iTunes.
BUT IT IS THE BILLBOARD CHARTS THAT RULE, especially for albums.
THEY COUNT ALL THE SALES, RADIO AND STREAMING, and if I understood correctly, the preorders will count ON RELEASE DAY that first week, from ALL SOURCES, ITUNES, AMAZON, AO, with in-store physical CD sales too and digital sales of that week, on BILLBOARD.
*sigh* *wipes brow* I hope this helps.
So I pre-ordered TOH for two iTunes accounts, one CD from AO for our home stereo, and two CDs from Amazon, for each of our cars.
Ordered GT as a single first for the two iTunes accounts at $1.29 each.
We have seen that earring before, I am pretty sure.

Question – Is it too late to buy CD’s from Amazon to have them part of the charting? (I ordered one for me, but some in my family like the hard copies, too.)
So I just talked to mils and she will be off-line for a few more days. New computer but installation, transfer of files, etc. etc. takes a little time. She can view things from her tablet but problems signing in. Hopefully will be cleared up.
Cait, she wanted me to tell you she received the CD and it’s absolutely amazing. Driving in her car it was so emotional to listen to that she almost had to pull off the road. “Love Kills” especially. So thank you for this.

ITUNES ALONE will only count actual sales on June 16th on their ranking of June 16th. They’ve been counting their preorders in each day’s ranking. It doesn’t matter in the big picture.
