The calm after the end of QAL in February didn’t last long – thank the universe – and the roll-out to TOH appears nicely underway. We had the Sunrise/AU interview on 3/18, followed by the MiniMTV one on 3/20, the Hunger Mag major Q&A (with spectacular pics by Rankin) on 3/24, Attitude Mag’s great article (sold-out, of course), ending up with the iHeart Red Carpet appearance. But the big news, of course, was the Ghost Town snippet and the interest it engendered. April looks to be even more interesting, with the single release on the 21st – good times ahead.

    And I’ve personally been whacking Repeat like a mouse banging against a food-pellet lever in a science lab experiment ever since I first cued up this tasty cut. I’d apologize to my adjacent co-workers in the Yahoo cubicle farm who’ve had to hear “Ghost Town” about 52,000 times at full volume… but honestly, none of them have complained. Yet another good sign!

    In my muddlement I can’t find any pre-orders anywhere. I went on Amazon and looked for both Ghost Town and TOH.Nada. Same with iTunes.
    Is there anyone here who can lay out the best/appropriate way and timeline to order GT and TOH, step by step, app by app?
    Probably need an excel spreadsheet or colour-coded chart. ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

    Why should it be so hard to order some music??

    I’m just hoping to hear it on the radio on Elvis Duran, and be able to hear it on Vevo and blogs. I don’t have an Ipad or listening device, yet, but , should be able to hear it on my phone someway.

    If we pre-order the album, does it count toward sales of the album in order to push it to number one like we did last time?

    I can’t even sit still thinking about another number one for him. What an honor.

    This is interesting from the RIAA who certifies gold and platinum singles and albums. I’m assuming that their criteria for certification is similar to sales from other industry charts. Or maybe it’s just more stuff added to the already confusing Poop pile of information! Wink

    All sales count. Pre-sales count for BB charting or they wouldn’t be offered. Record companies want those sales. iTunes doesn’t count the pre-sales in it’s chart on release day anymore, but that doesn’t effect the BB chart.
    So buy it when you want, from where you want, and as many times as you want. Stream it instead or also, if you want. 100 streams counts as 1 single sale.

    Shazam is a music identifier app so it makes sense that only 1 would count.

    We are such small fish in the big pond that it’s going to take a lot of interest from outside the fandom to make this a hit, and I think it has that potential.
    It needs radio play. It could be that it may peak on the charts some time after release week.

    The single is not being pre-sold. It is going up for sale on the 21st and all we have to do is buy it. (It’s a tough job but somebody has to do it. Grin )

    The CD pre-sell will be offered this week and, as nkd has said, they WILL be counted in Week One sales by Billboard and Soundscan.

    CD pre-sells give the label a head start on projecting sales and they are very important. One of the things Adam’s label will look at is how well his pre-sell does this time, as compared to last. If you bought a pre-sell last time, it is Adam’s interest that you do so again. Stand up and be counted as a core fan.

    You don’t have to buy your pre-sell CD from iTunes. You will be able to buy it on the fan site, Amazon, etc.

    IMHO, it has never made sense to buy a cd pre-sell from iTunes, since that precludes your supporting any future singles he may release.
